What a Girl Wants

So, when I started writing this blog for “What A Girl Wants,” I was kind of stumped. I mean, that's a big question, right?! What do we want? Of course there’s health, happiness, peace on Earth, and all the things we want for ourselves and for our families. But let's face it: there are gifts we want for Christmas, and when we’re asked what we want, we have to have an answer! So I really gave this a lot of thought. I tried to figure out what we ladies have in common — even if we have different tastes.

And then I thought about the presents that made the biggest impact on me, and what made them so special. They were thoughtful, and I especially love hand-picked gifts. The Smithsonian Institution shows on QVC are my most precious favorites. I learned to love the Smithsonian from my dad, and I still can't quite believe QVC has this wonderful partnership with them. (Mark your calendars: our live remote show is coming up on December 1 at 7 p.m. ET.) Anyway, last year we had a limited-edition Hope Diamond necklace. I never said I really wanted it, and since it sold out on air and never came back, I didn’t have a chance to order it for myself. Later that month, on Christmas morning and after all the gifts were opened, Sean and my daughters slyly handed me a box. Inside was the Hope Diamond necklace they bought while I was doing the remote show. It brought tears to my eyes, because they were so thoughtful for giving me this gift! I even changed my outfit on Christmas Day so I could wear my new beloved necklace.

So what thoughtful gifts do we have? Well, if she always says her feet are cold, how about some cozy Deer Stag slippers, maybe paired with some philosophy products? We have an adorable new "sweets for the feet" that would be perfect. Or you could do a B. Makowsky faux fur boot for day, with the slippers for night! And if you’re planning a trip to Disney, we have fabulous luggage, and even if that dream trip isn't in the making, luggage with a Disney watch would be darling. George Simonton is a designer who is always on target, so a jacket for a fashionable girl would be nice, too. We also have a set of stretch bracelets that are great stocking stuffers as well as cute girlfriend gifts. Another idea: take her favorite color or the shade that matches her birthstone to make a simple present even more thoughtful and memorable.

Tune in tomorrow, November 21, for a day dedicated to "What a Girl Wants." And be sure to enter the What a Girl Wants Sweepstakes! No purchase necessary. Must be 18 years or older to win. Void where prohibited.
