Posted by David Venable QVC 1295279827.913
Hello, foodies...

It's time for another In The Kitchen with David  PM Edition. We have a BIG 4-HOUR show planned on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET! It's all part of our 24-hour Cooking on Q Day event! Click on the video link below for a complete preview of our show!

So, here's your blog question for Wednesday night: What's your favorite family dinner menu? For me,  it's beef pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh green beans, and, of course, homemade buttermilk biscuits! Serve it with iced tea, top it off with some homemade apple pie for dessert, and there's just nothing better. Share your family favorites with everyone here in our blog community!

Keeping it flavorful in the PM!
David

David: We think you are just wonderful in the kitchen!

Our favorite family dinner would have to be beef and homemade noodles, green beans and corn (out of the garden of course) and cornbread. Topped off with pineapple upside down cake and a cherry delight.

Oh no my post got deleted. lol

My favorite family dinner growing up was Sunday dinner of Lasagna, salad and garlic bread. We didn't have a lot of money and there were 6 of us, so we didn't eat as much as we would have liked, but we had enough and we had each other to share it with, so we were very blessed. Mom and Dad always took just one helping and watched as the rest of us dug in for seconds. We didn't realize back then how lucky we were...well maybe we did. Family dinners are such a special time to share good food, even if there isn't an over abundance.

Your food shows are comfort food for the soul!

God bless,

Nancy

Growing up it was pot roast with potatoes and onions and carrots. As a single guy those big meals are simply too much. Nowadays I like pasta based casaroles or small meat loafs. Recipies made from recipe books bought on your show with dishes and items purchased on Q. I think the Express (Redi Set Go) Grill that I bought on Q is perhaps the most used item I have.Smile You are a very good host, Thanks

Chicken Divan is the Favorite of Favorites. In my Family, This was called Two cups of Mayo.

It's a long story. Roasted chicken on top of broccoli smothered in a creamy curry sauce served over egg noodles.

No dessert is ever eaten after this meal as you just eat & eat & eat the family favorite.

Who knows when it will be served again. Delicious & such Memories.

See you Wednesday !! I should be safe with shopping as I already own the Pressure Cooker.

LOVE IT !!!

Hi David!! One of my favorite comfort food meals is my Mom's traditional Sunday dinner.. it consisted of pan fried chicken, mashed potatoes & rich chicken gravey, buttered corn, her stewed creamy tomatoes, tossed salad & a big ol' homemade chocolate cake /w chocolate icing for dessert. OMG.. the calories and fat.. but ohhhhhhh my how satisfying! I wish I could taste her cooking one more time.. but the memories will last a lifetime. Part of what makes "comfort food" so darn comforting! Take care.. can't wait to join you this Weds evening! All my flavorful best - Doreen from CT

Hi, David

I love watching your shows.

Our favorite meal would have to be Lasanga with homemade garlic bread and a crisp romaine, tomatoes and cucumber salad, and for dessert apple pie or a sundae.

Hey David. Glad you're back. Sure missed you. There are soooo many favorite meals for me, but I will go with the one when I was a kid. My grandmother was the BEST cook to ever walk the face of the Earth. I miss her and her cooking so much. She used to make chicken and dumplins', fried chicken, homemade biscuits, pickled green beans and for dessert she would make deep dish strawberry cobbler. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

The favorite that I cook is eggplant parmesan with salad and rolls. It's yummy!

OUR FAVORITE FAMILY DINNER WAS FRIED CHICKEN, MASHED POTATOES WITH GRAVY, GREEN BEANS AND SOMETIMES CORN. BUT OF COURSE WE HAD THE BEST BUTTERMILK BISCUITS, AND ICED TEA.

DAVID, I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE BEST. SINCE MY PARENTS PASSED AWAY, I HAVEN'T COOKED MUCH. WATCHING YOUR SHOWS IS MAKING ME WANT TO START LEARNING TO COOK AGAIN.

AGAIN, I WANT TO SAY, THANK YOU.

Good day David, love QVC and specially your in the kitchen shows.

My family loves my Porcupines, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and green beans.

Porcupines are meat balls with rice mixed in them, cooked in tomatoe juice. Grandma's recipe...

Have a wonderful day. Will be watching Weds. Pam

Me & my Daughter have what we call "Cuban" night. We fry plantains, cook Spanish rice, black beans, highly seasoned chicken tenders seared on high heat in a cast iron skillet. Instead of dessert we have homemade guacamole and sour cream for toppings! My apologies to my Cuban friends, who may say "not too authentic"... It's the thought that counts ;-}} :-) Last edited on 1/17/2011

Our favorite meal is steak. I know, sounds blah. But I like to serve it with an herb butter. Of course potatoes, sometimes baked, most of the time I look in one of my many cookbooks from Cookbook Corner for a twist on the potatoes. Then a side dish and again cookbooks to the rescue. We like cheddar biscuits. We don't usually have a dessert when we have this meal because it is so filling. Sometimes, I will mix a little mayo with steak sauce for my steak, and green onions. And, of course sweet iced tea. After all I am a southern girl. LOL

Favorite Healthy Dinner: Marinated grilled chicken breasts (on the Chris Freytag Grill--it is awesome!) Sliced over a nice bed of spring greens with red bell peppers, cucumbers, green onions, dried cranberries and feta cheese...dressing is just balsamic vinegar with a drop or two of olive oil. Supoer good and healthy for you.

Favorite Comfort Food Dinner: Prime Rib, Twice Baked Potatoe Casserole with Apple Smoked Bacon and tons of cheese and sour cream in them LOL!! , Broccoli Souffle, Spring green salad with red bell peppers, cucumbers, green onions, croutons with feta and cranberries. Juniors cheescake for dessert or a mile high chocolate cake.

Keep up the good work..

Loved your show on Sunday...looking forward to Wednesday!

Growing up, my favorite family dinner meal was my mother's meatloaf with a sweet and savory sauce, old-fashioned elbow macaroni and cheese, cinnamon apples, broccoli and for dessert, snickerdoodles!

Today, it is my mom's recipe for a sticky-sweet Oriental chicken, rice, broccoli, and a great bread roll. No dessert needed! My favorite dessert, though, is a cherry nut dessert with vanilla ice cream and warm, cherry sauce. It was my "birthday choice" growing up!

Ahhh, the memories of good food and good times!

Hey David: Love the Cooking on Q events! Looking forward to Wednesday.

Favorite family meal is a tie: first option is marinated skirt steak cooked in a cast iron skillet (got one as a One Time Only awhile back), rice pilaf, salad with my husband's special dressing and molten chocolate cake. Second option is our Friday night special: roast chicken with a salty, buttery crust, homemade challah and the salad with my husband's special dressing with an apple crisp for dessert. Either way, it's all good!
