The Wonderful World of Whimsy

Posted by Jill Bauer 1335987505.98
Hi friends. I’m really looking forward to spending time with you during the month of May as You’re Home with Jill becomes a weekly program. Our team has worked hard to find new products to decorate your home, new innovations to make living at home more fun, and new ideas on how to use home décor in a different way.
To kick things off I want to share what I think is one of the most important things you can add to your home…a touch of whimsy. Just saying the word whimsy makes you smile, doesn’t it? It’s that touch of the unexpected in your home décor…be it a clever shape to a table, an interesting texture on a pillow, or even an unconventional color combination. These are the things that'll make your home unique and give you a smile as you live in your space.
We spend so much time picking out the right paint colors for our walls, the right shape and size for a sofa, the perfect finish for our floors. But when you’re really living at home, do you look at that paint color three years later and find yourself grinning? I’m going to guess the answer is no. However, what happens to your spirit when you see that funky lamp you picked up at a flea market or the cute bunny salt and pepper shakers you leave out all spring? I already know the answer, don’t you? You look at it and think, “I just love those things.” And you should. You know that saying about how the little things mean the most? That’s why you need a touch of whimsy…a little touch of happiness to fill your heart and your home every day you look around.
I wanted to help you find some new whimsical things in our first show, so be on the lookout for ways to use candles, gardenscapes, and new bedding to create a fresh look to love. And if you’re in the mood for a project, be sure to check out my video blog to see how polka dots and pottery might inspire a new color story in your home.
I can’t wait to spend the month of May together. So tune in every Thursday at 10am ET. Think of me as your new neighbor for the month, and know that the door is open and you’re always welcome!
Best,
—Jill Bauer

Hi, Jilly! Our room is Whimisical chaos! The bedroom is Eltonesque! Since I'm a big fan! Also our Beloved Baileymay(13 yr. young Chocolate Lab) is adorned all over our home as she is now at the Bridge to watch over us. We have Q Hosts on the Wall of Fame going up the stairs. Since we live in a small Townhome & I collect too much, Ed just shakes his head. My record Collection is all in 1 room, etc. Can't wait for the show! :-)

Hi Jill, watched this morning "Home with Jill" and saw you putting the candle on the polka dot pot, what a neat idea. Had to go over to your blog and check out how to do it. That is so cute too. Thanks for sharing how to do it. I noticed you said your son Trevor made one, my Grandson is a Trevor too. May 19th is his BD, he'll be 7. He is having a sleep over and we will be doing these pots. Can't wait. Take care Jill, love your shows that you host. You are always so informative. Thanks again.

I love YHWJ! I don't watch QVC or buy from QVC like I did maybe 10 years ago. But I really try not to miss your show. You & your team did a great job today, & I look forward to what you have scheduled for the rest of the Month. I do appreciate the new items. Have you thought about doing a show with only items Made in the USA? Just a thought. Remember when QVC did the bus tour of the US - that was so much fun.

Anyway, good job & I will DVR your show next week. You are the best!

Enjoyed the new show very much. Regarding the birdbath, does the glass bowl easily separate from the base for cleaning. I watched but no one picked it up by itself or mentioned tht.

Hi Jill,

Love your show and I want to make the polka-pots. I'm having troublefinding the daubers for the dots. Can you tell me where I might find them---Michaels, A.C. Moore, online?

Thanks,

Sue

Just an FYI for singalot, I found paint Dotters at ACMoore and also little sponge daubers too.

Made about 6 pots with my Grandchildren, had a ball, they turned out so cute. Original designs, one of a kind. Hope you have a great time making them as we did. Planted some with flowers and herbs. Very unique idea Jill, thanks again.

JILL I LOVE YOUR SHOWS. THEY ARE SO DOWN TO EARTH AND ENJOYABLE. I HAVE BEEN WITH QVC SINCE KATHY LAVINE HAD HER FIRST SHOW...I HAVE SEEN MANY CHANGES AND SOME HAVE NOT BEEN FOR THE BEST.. I WATCH LESS AND LESS BECAUSE OF THE HOSTS THEY HAVE EMPLOYED AND CONTINUE TO KEEP. I MAKE A POINT TO CATCH ALL YOURS. WITH YOU ITS LIKE HAVING A GOOD FRIEND IN YOUR HOME AND NOT SOME GIDDY MIDDLE AGED PERSON LAUGHING HER HEAD OFF, ACTING A FOOL...PLEASE KEEP YOUR SHOWS DOWN TO EARTH AND AS PLEASENT AS YOU HAVE IN THE PAST. BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Hi, Jill -

Just wanted you to know that I love you as a host on the Q and love your home shows! I can tell you put a lot of your heart and soul into each and every one!

I saw you present the soap rocks (which I love) and also wanted to tell you that the Q's price for 3 of them is outstanding! Our local Hallmark store just started carrying them recently and for about half of the Q's price for 3, you got ONE at Hallmark! I wanted to ask you if you have ever heard of "Bath Whip". It is a whipped bath treatment that comes in a plastic jar that you scoop out with your fingers...it's made by the same co. that makes the soap rocks, T.S. Pink. Anyway, it's wonderful....all different scents like Plumeria, Lime Coconut (I currently am using), Vanilla, and pretty oceanic scent and many others. It is packed with vitamins and antioxidants and I love this stuff! I can't find it anywhere locally ( I live in upstate NY) and the only store I can buy it from is in Cooperstown, NY where a cute little shop sells it, along with the soap rocks. I would love it if QVC could get this on air too. Maybe you could look into that...I think you would really love it!

Thanks, Jill for being a great host and for all the precise details you give us when you are giving your presentations. Hope you and your family have a fun filled and "whimsical" summertime! Looking forward to your next At Home With Jill show!

Take care,

Donna in Upstate NY

I love your Thursday morning show and I have a question about one of the items that you showed with Linda Dano on MAY 3, 2012. The linen headboard item #H349013 is not offered in the full/queen size in the sandstone color. I am puzzled because it is offered in other sizes in the sandstone. I contacted customer service but the representative had no information. I am VERY interested in finding this perfect headboard if you can help me. Love you, Ann
