Happy 4th of July & Happy Retirement to Nolan Miller

Hello,

This coming weekend, we'll be celebrating our country's birthday as well as Nolan Miller's retirement celebrations! So, this blog will recap 19 years on QVC with the dashing Nolan Miller!

I knew his name before he even came to QVC because when I competed in pageants, I bought a couple of his skirt suits to wear for the interview competitions. They were beautiful, colorful, dressy, and expensive, but they seemed to be a lucky charm for me since I was having good luck winning the pageants.

So when Nolan came to QVC, I was excited to meet the man who had designed these suits and I had high hopes for his jewelry line as well. Of course, he surpassed my expectations and I immediately fell in love with his "rose pin" on the very first show! I've been wearing it ever since.

Not only did he continue to design gorgeous jewelry for the next 19 years, but I realized what a wonderful, caring, kind, talented, and handsome gentleman Nolan Miller is. An extraordinary friendship began between Nolan and me. There are only a few people on this earth that we really connect with when it comes to a close friendship, and Nolan is one of those people for me. I love him like a father. I have great respect for him and I call him often to check up on him and see how he's doing. I also pray for him often and we'll forever be close friends.

We have many great memories from being on the air together, including the time when he designed an angel pin after he was diagnosed with lung cancer and presented it to me on the show saying I was his "angel." That meant the world to me! When you think about all the famous Hollywood women he has designed for and has had friendships with, I could hardly even imagine me as his angel, but I'm thankful he thought of me that way.

It was always fun when we would have visits or calls from Joan Collins, Linda Evans, Deidre Hall, Nancy Reagan, Ann-Margaret, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Cyd Charisse, Diahann Carroll, etc. A small-town girl from Minnesota like me would not normally get that opportunity in my lifetime, but I did because of Nolan! Seeing the gorgeous gowns every time Nolan did a show was always like a New York runway fashion show, and Nolan never made me feel bad because I wasn't thin enough to fit into those gowns!

Getting the opportunity to get to know Mark Zunino, his business partner/designer, has also been a thrill. Mark is a very talented dress and jewelry designer as well, and together, he and Nolan have been a dynamic team! I look forward to seeing more of Mark's designs on QVC in the future!

But while most people retire in their mid-sixties, Nolan has kept on doing what he loves, designing beautiful things for ladies who want to look and feel beautiful. He has finally decided to retire and take life a little easier! He deserves it. He's been designing and battling lung cancer for several years now, so it's time for him to relax, enjoy life, and spend time doing exactly what he wants to do each day! They always say, "When you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life." Well, Nolan's been doing what he loves for his entire career and I'm sure it felt like work sometimes, but he's enjoyed it every step of the way, too! And we've enjoyed the results of his work for the past 19 years on QVC!

You can see Nolan's shows this Sunday at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

It's not going to be easy for me to do these shows this weekend, because when you've been on QVC as long as I have and have had guests like Nolan whom you've shared shows with for 19 years, it's always hard when something great has to end. However, our friendship will go on forever and for that I'm so grateful!

Counting our blessings,

Mary Beth Roe
