Braven 600 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Posted by Expert Answers 1345656729.047

Experts from Braven answered your biggest questions about the Braven 600 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker.

Q: Can you pair it with more than one Bluetooth cell phone or device?

A: Braven speakers, per Bluetooth specifications, can pair with multiple devices simultaneously and will keep the last eight devices in memory. However, only one device can have an active connection with the speaker at a time. In other words, the speaker will play audio from only one device at a time.

Q: Can you pair it with a Bluetooth tablet or a computer?

A: Braven speakers have been optimized to work with most mobile devices, including tablets. Connectivity with tablets and computers is dependent on the device’s operating system and software updates.

Q: Does it allow voice dialing?

A: You can use the built-in microphone to send commands to voice dialing apps as long as you use your mobile device to activate or initiate communication with the app.

Q: Can you play music through the speaker?

A: Braven speakers will play any audio that is transmitted from a mobile device via Bluetooth or the included 3.5mm cable.

Q: Can you charge a cell phone or MP3 player with the speaker?

A: Braven speakers are designed to efficiently charge mobile phones and other small portable devices that draw power from a 0.5A to 1A charge. Devices must be able to charge using a USB connection.

Q: Can you charge a tablet?

A: Braven Six Series speakers are NOT designed to charge a tablet or any other device requiring a higher-powered (2A) USB connection. Braven speakers are designed to efficiently charge mobile phones and other small portable devices that draw power from a 0.5A to 1A charge.

Q: Is the battery user-replaceable?  If not, can it be replaced?

A: The battery is not user-replaceable. If your battery stops working during the 1-year warranty period, Braven will replace your speaker for you.

If the battery wears out after the 1 year warranty expires, how do you get a new battery to use the product? What is the companies EXPECTED battery life?

BRAVEN speakers come with two 3 watt speakers that provide 95DB at 0.5m. The battery is a 1400mAh battery which provides up to 12 hours of play time!

The BRAVEN 600 is made with a seamless aluminum enclosure that is sealed during manufacturing. As a result, the internal battery cannot be replaced. However, the battery is a lithium ion battery that will last the life of the speaker.

Yes, you can listen to music from 3rd party apps like Pandora on a BRAVEN speaker. It is designed to play any audio your mobile device can play through either the Bluetooth or 3.5mm connection.

Android smartphones and tablets can stream wirelessly to a BRAVEN speaker over Bluetooth. You can also connect via the included 3.5 mm cable. The speaker will charge any mobile device that uses a 1a adapter and USB charging cable. Most tablets use a 2a adapter and so cannot be charged by a BRAVEN speaker.

Is it weatherproof? I'd like to use it to play outdoor Christmas music in a few months.

The anondized aluminum exterior of the BRAVEN 600 is durable, and is great for outdoor use. However the speaker is not waterproof so you'll want to be careful it is protected from rain or snow.

The BRAVEN 600 is compatible with an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3Gs. The battery in the 600 is able to give your phone a 40-50% charge before the BRAVEN speaker will need to be recharged itself. The rate of charging should be similar to charging your phone with the normal wall adapter.

The BRAVEN 600 is compatible with an iPhone 4!

The speaker is not currently designed to allow you to plug it in to a wall outlet and pass power through it. When you plug the speaker into the wall it will run the power through the battery, thus charging it, and then the speaker can pass this power on to other devices.

You can listen to Pandora through the speaker! All you need to do is connect to the speaker via Bluetooth and begin playing your Pandora radio station on your iPhone. The music will then stream wirelessly through the BRAVEN.

So if the battery is not charged on the Braven, can I plug into direct power with the adapter and then plug my iphone 4 with usb connector to the braven, and be able to listen to music while it is charging? Also I noticed that the 650 and 625 series has 40 W woofers? does this Braven have them as well? Thank you so much for your answers. I am trying to make my decision on with series to get :)

What is the difference between the series of the Braven, 600, 625s and 650? Which one is a better bargain? I would like to purchase the one that will give me more.

You can plug the BRAVEN speaker in to the wall adapter and then play music and charge your phone at the same time. However, if the battery on the speaker is completely drained you'll need to charge it alone for a few minutes before you can start to charge a phone through it.

The BRAVEN 600 does have the same subwoofers as the 650 and 625s.

I see that you can use it for 12 hours before having to recharge it. If you are using it to charge your phone does that cause it to loose its charge sooner than 12 hours?

There are a few key differences between each of the models:

1. Battery Life: Each speaker has a different sized battery. The BRAVEN 600 will last up to 12 hours, the BRAVEN 625s will last up to 16 hours, and the BRAVEN 650 will last up to 20 hours.

2. Speaker Drivers: The BRAVEN 625s has custom speaker drivers that were designed to fill large open spaces. The 600 and 650 sound great outdoors, but the 625s was specifically designed to be used outside.

3. Accessories: The BRAVEN 600 and 650 each come with a USB cable, 3.5mm cable, power adapters, and a soft carrying bag. The BRAVEN 625s comes with a usb cable, 3.5 mm cable, power adapters, a USB LED flashlight, lanyard, and a water resistant dry bag.

4. Design: The 600 and 650 are made with a seamless anondized aluminum enclosure, which is very durable. The BRAVEN 625s has a shock resistant exterior with an aluminum grill. The 625s also has a loop that allows you to attach the included laynard to the side of the speaker.

5. aptX: The BRAVEN 650 comes with the aptX codec which provides lossless audio over a Bluetooth connection. You must have a device that is capable of transmitting using the aptX codec to take advantage of this feature.

I use my current speakers mainly in the kitchen, which is right next to a power source. I use it for listening to music and charging my phone. Can I just keep this plugged in so it always ready to use? If I do use it with no wires, should I let the battery run down all the way before I plug it back in?

hgrnc1346165042.45712 PostsRegistered 8/24/2012

So then it would always be best to use the wireless hookup with your phone and not the USB as using it would drain the battery even if the phone is completely charged?

Finally, the only thing setting the 600, 625s, and the 650 Braven apart from each other is mostly the battery life, correct? besides the other options offered with the 625s (rugged outercase, flashlight etc).

Thank you for your answers & previous answers :) much appreciated :)
