Hi Q-ers...

I'm getting ready for my first hairdo by Ken Paves show, and it secretly has me longing for...long hair again. Ah, those were the days. Somehow, I never did have the face or head shape for long hair. I always wanted to be one of those cute, preppy J. Crew girls who just were bare-faced and beautiful and had that easy, wind-blown, air-dried, perfectly straight and chic Martha's Vineyard kind of hair. Instead, mine was too thick, too kinky, and when I tried to grow it long, it just looked like a gladiator helmet on my head. Not flattering. Not easy to style when you work on TV. So "whack", off it came. But I've always thought long hair was more feminine, sexier…I must get over that self-conscious streak I have. High self-esteem is far more attractive! Working on it. :)

I just got back from a photo shoot in NYC with  Bobbi Brown and six women who are participating in our National Makeover Day event (stay tuned on Facebook and YouTube for cool behind-the-scenes videos). Six women...from all different walks of life...all who at one point needed a job, were unemployed, on hard times, and couldn't even afford a suit to wear to job interviews. That's where this awesome charity organization, Dress for Success, comes in. I remember volunteering for them back in the 90s when they first got started. I also remember 60 Minutes doing this crazy-inspiring profile on the woman who started it. Anyway, I was in tears most of the day yesterday. Bobbi offered one of the women who was unemployed and had just been kicked out of her home a job right on the spot! God was in that studio yesterday bringing about the loveliest miracles. So I spent most of the day crying tears of joy. Another woman, Zoe, was addicted to drugs and spent much of her life in and out of jail. In prison, she wrote poetry that she now publishes and has written a book as well. One of her poems made me, you guessed it, cry like a baby.

I started  Stephanie Huckabee's PowerFit series. My motivation is pathetic, totally and unabashedly pathetic. I have the butt and saddlebags I deserve. BUT I will say, her whole "20 minutes a day" thing may be something I can stick with. Last night I set an egg timer and did it. I couldn't believe it - 20 minutes felt like 10. Of course, today I've already run out of time before work to do it so at 10 p.m. tonight when I get home, I must do it. The upswing - 20 minutes is totally doable at 10 p.m.! I can't fall off the wagon 24 hours in…that's just sad.

 I have a church dinner tomorrow. A big "I love Jesus" :) wrap-up dinner to this ALPHA course I've been taking at church. We all have to bring a dish - since I don't cook, mine is  Mrs. Prindable's apples for dessert. I plan to cut them into slices. I did that a few weeks ago at someone's house and people devoured them. P.S. and by the way, my new favorite Mrs. Prindable's apple collection is from  Isaac (M22189). I know I already mentioned this last week, but that cranberry and dark chocolate one is awesomely insane...

My six B.F.F.'s from high school in Michigan are coming to visit me in June. I can't wait. I love them so much. Some people as they get older grow closer to friends made in adulthood...like your friends from college. I have one friend from college I keep in touch with who is like family...but beyond that, my gals from high school know me inside and out - warts and all, crazy family members, deep down insecurities and fears - and they love me anyway. It's the best feeling to have friends like that. There's something about growing up with people, how they knew you when you were nothing and before you made yourself into something, that creates a pure kind of friendship that's more valuable than gold. So they're coming, and the only real prep I need to complete is buying a bed for my basement bedroom because I refuse to let them sleep on a mattress on the floor, like we're camping out in a college sorority. Although those were fun days too... :)

Tomorrow I am FINALLY working with one of my most fave designers here - Lori Goldstein and her LOGO line. She and I are such nice friends but have never worked together on-air. That's all about to change. Our show is dedicated to " t he season of the T-shirt - it's all tees! Cause honestly, isn't it really our #1 uniform in summer? But you want tees that have cute factor...not the kind you mow the grass in. You can't do cocktails in those. So Lori and I will be here. I don't know if folks really understand who she is. She has styled Madonna. She works with Italian Vogue, styling models and celebs for their covers. Rumor has it, she is styling Rhianna right now. I mean, she is big. Industry big. The kind of "big" that transcends people recognizing her...and I love her hair - ugh, she is totally darling to me.

A final thought for the day before I go…must stop annoying nervous habit of playing with my bangs. Too much twiddling and I'm breaking hairs off. Soon my bangs will be nonexistent. Thank God for Ken Paves clip-in bangs.

Shawn I really enjoy your posts. The reason I was on your post was to look at a picture of you.  I want to have my bushy hair cut and was contemplating a cut like yours.  Your personality shines through you.  Your haircut accentuates your face but it truly is the light of Jesus that shines through you. I hope you wouldn't mind if I get my hair cut similar to yours. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Hi Shawn!

Love you and am a huge fan and fellow Michigander :)  A couple of weeks ago you did a presentation on St Tropez tanning mousse with a mitt. There are no item numbers that include a mitt for the product and I really, really want the mitt. Can you please help?

Hi Shawn, I am a big fan of yours and have really enjoyed reading about you and your past careers! I have a favor to ask of you- though I think you are terrific on TV, I find it so annoying that every single time you are on a clothing show you have to mention that you are a size extra small. I am glad for you, I think you look adorable, but I don't think it is good for anyone to have to hear about it all the time. It makes you sound insecure and it makes the "larger" rest of us JEALOUS!!!! Seriously, I think it would be something great to drop from your shows, which are always so much fun otherwise.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}THANKS!!!

Hi Shawn,

I was hay to find a forum with which I could both read about you and post a reply.  I have always thought you were just awesome!  I love your style, your "up" beat personality and just your fun, silly, yet professional presentations.  I think you are very beautiful on the outside, and after reading more from and about you, I can see that you are even more beautiful inside!  I knew there was something special about you, and now I realize it is your love of Jesus, shining through you!  Thank you sooo much for being strong enough in your convictions, to speak up and praise God!  Too many people, everywhere, are either afraid to show their faith, or assume that nobody wants to hear it.  This world needs more people who love God and aren't afraid to shout it from the rooftops!  Keep on doing the wonderful job you already do and PLEASE never ever change.  You never know who you may lead to Christ Jesus, simply by telling them how much YOU love Him!  You are awesome~ can't wait to see you with Ken Paves.  I hope you wear some long hair, so I can see you in it.  Of course, you look simply gorgeous with your short hair, and probably would look great no matter WHAT you did with your hair.  Please be sure to post back here and tell us what you think about the items in his show.  I would love to know which of the blonde shades matches your hair color, cuz that's what I need but can't tell from the swatches online.  Thanks again!  God bless you and keep you in His care, hugs to Sloan too!  Your QVC friend, Cher

PS It's too bad that one of the posters feels uneasy when you tell us your size, but actually, I think all of the hosts do it and I find it helpful to see what items look like on different body types and it does help to know what size you are.  It's hard to tell from TV.  Please don't let that comment make you feel bad, I doubt she meant to come across the way it did.  Cheers!

Cher ~

Shawn, I have watched you as much as I can and even watched you when you were on Apprentice Martha Stewart and had my hair cut like yours then too.  NO on the long hair and the fake bangs.  You wear short hair very well and it is your crowning GLORY!!  Wishing the Q would tell us when different hosts are on like the other shopping network does!!!!  I just prefer some better than others.  Also wish there were more pics for my stylist to see of your hair on here!!!  Keep up the good work and keep us laughing!!{#emotions_dlg.lol}

Hi Shawn,

,I'd just like to point out that Isaac Mizrahi is probably Jewish.  Sorry, just wanted to keep my people "alive" on this forum.

Hi Shawn,

You are just a darling and I really enjoy your energy.  When I read your bio, I was also impressed with your faith and honesty.  I do have one request.  I'm not sure which host started the phrase, "AND OH BY THE WAY", but it is REALLY becoming irratating.  I even heard a news broadcaster use it today and I almost fell off the coach.  It's reminded me of those people who end every sentence with "YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN!".   Thanks for letting me bring that to your attention.  I've spent years as a public speaker and know when people stop listening.

Hi Shawn:

Enjoy your presentations and your energy.  You are a breath of fresh air.

Recently you did a spot for Tax Day.  You were wearing a blue sleeveless top.  It was beautiful.  Is the top available on the Q?

Shawn, your hair is adorable! I wish I could wear short hair. You have the perfect face for it. I so enjoy reading your posts. It is so refreshing to see someone in the public eye not fearful of mentioning that they go to church and are a believer. I respect that you do this. Keep the faith!I think Judith Ripka is also involved with Dress For Success. I am sure I read that somewhere. I think both she and Bobbi Brown are awesome and I buy products from both.

Shawn!  I think you are a cutie pie!  Don't change one thing about yourself.  I love your haircut and have tried to have mine done like yours. (I wish I had your face and size extra small bod to go with it!)  Keep up the good work.

Shawn, Really enjoy watching you!! If you could bottle some of your energy I'm sure it would sell.  Love your descriptions!  One question, a little while back you had on a wax used to size fingers for rings.  I would like the name of it can't seem to find it myself.  Thanks so much.

Shawn, I think your the BEST QVC host on the air. I just wish you were on more often. Your very inspiring and seem to be so real, like most people I call my friend. I wish you the best and hope to see you on air more often!

Hey Shawn......You're just one of my favorite hosts, and you are really "a laugh riot".  I can't believe you have self esteem issues.  Actually, my sister and I recently just were talking about how absolutely gorgeous you are, and how we hoped to come back looking like you in our next life.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

God Bless!!!!!

Shawn--I love you as a host.  First of all, I saw you at the Beauty Bash when I was talking with Lisa R, and you have NO saddlebags. PUHHHLEEZE--you and Lisa are both so tiny.  I can't believe you even say that girl!

I, for one, DO appreciate you telling us what size you are in.  I'm slightly built like you, and I know you usually put on the x's.  If you have on a small, please let us know so I know which size to buy.   I know you do NOT say that to brag.  You say that so viewers can gauge which size to buy.  I appreciate that.

BTW, wear more pink and brights--you look great in those.  And, your hairstyle is darling!  Miss you on Q check and try to host PMS sometime when Lisa is off!

Hey Shawn!  I love reading your blog.  I am 27 years old, but i literally have been watching, and loving QVC since I was 12!  I have seen many hosts come and go, and you are by far my new favorite.  You have a down to earth quality about you that is refreshing, and I love your fashion sense.  QVC did the right thing when they hired you!{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

No way, Shawn, your adorable stylish short hairdo makes you stand out from all the other hosts.  It shows off your face :)  I should tell you while i am here that not long ago, on your birthday, you mentioned turning 37.  I turned 38 on November 2nd!  We have something else in common too, are you 5'6"?

Anyway, i too, am one of few with a cute short haircut...my friends are all sporting long hair still and i think our short hair makes us look confident and adorable.  People tell me all the time how "brave" i am to have short hair and i am thinking "it is just hair, people!"  Hey-i figure it shows off my bone structure and my husband happens to love it short.

Keep your hair short. I am trying desperately to grow mine to the length required for YOUR style. IT IS PERFECT ON YOU AND VERY MUCH IN STYLE RIGHT NOW. You look great in it and can't imagine you any other way. Mary Beth had her hair short YEARS ago and it took YEARS off her appearance, don't know WhY she has let it grow again. STAY WITH WHAT IS WORKING FOR YOU. Self esteem----good luck. If anyone should have it, it should be YOU, but if you figure out a way to "get it" be sure to let us all know.

Hi Shawn, I am new to this so please forgive my mistakes. Who knows maybe I won't make any! Any how I am a 44 year old male, been shopping with the Q for a long time. I am disabled so its so incredible to order the quality merchandise you all carry right from home and if it wasn't for easy-pay, well I know you know what I mean especially just receiving disabity. My mom had a brain tumor removed about ten years ago. She's in Missouri, me in Tucson,where some of you come for the gem show. I called my mom today and we both feel you are so special, uplifting and positive. You make those hard days just a little easier. My mom said today she felt you resemble princess Dianna so do I. I like your jewlry shows you are so down to earth like my mom says. I study gemstones on my own. Can't go to school for it do to owing other loans and other things as well. It's my passion. I try hard to keep hold of my dream to one day to be on the Q with my designs. It can happen. You said faith is very important to you. I agree and believing in ourselves. MY soul guides me throuth God I feel . He's got me so far in life as well as my mom. she's a fighter all right.Learn something new every day and try to have a new affirmation for the day. Rather it be a quote or one of my own. It's almost 5 in the morning here. Don't sleep well Mainly from pain but God never said it would be easy but said he would be with us every step of the way. Now that I know how to do this I will be in touch soon.

Sincerely,

Sean Bartram

P.S. We have same name just different spelling.
