“What are your favorite…baby names?” I asked to my not yet husband, one gorgeous fall evening while walking down Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Southern California. Days before, we’d started playing this game where we would ask each other to name their favorites in a particular category as a way to get to know each other even better. Though at this point, to me it didn’t matter, I was smitten and completely in love. We were still counting our couple status in weeks at that point, but it felt like months since our first official date never really ended.

"We're going to be in the TV!" My daughter Grace tells her dad as we leave the house on a freezing February morning. I've got a huge suitcase full of clothes and a Vera Bradley bag with toys and books swung over my shoulder. Both girls bundled up, run out ahead of me to go get in the car as I coax our old bull-dog Gourdie along with his bed. Trailing behind is my mom who's in town for a few days.
Our whole crew shows up at this gorgeous mini mansion outside Philadelphia where we will recreate our home for the next eight hours.
The set is gorgeous! Full of light and white and my favorite acce... Continue Reading

It’s National Nutrition Month! How you choose to eat is a really personal choice. We all have favorite foods and the things we can’t stomach, but learning to eat what’s good for our bodies is a journey that we all go on individually. People always ask me about what I like to keep around the house, and so this month I wanted to share with you some kitchen staples that I think go a long way to keeping me and my family eating right. I’m also on a major budget. Those two things don’t always go hand in hand so I have to work really hard on my list of pantry and freezer... Continue Reading

We love the big awards show! One year we rolled out the red carpet and invited 20 friends to an awards-themed party at our house when we lived in Las Vegas. Everyone was required to dress up. It was only a couple years after I was married and I had my wedding dress made into a cocktail dress with a black overlay, it was awesome. We had ballots and prizes and speeches. Even Pumpkin and Gourdie got all dressed up. We still talk about that party so many years later. What a blast to get all dolled up with your closest friends.

It’s vacation season!!!!! Okay, maybe not for most Americans, but for a California family making a home on the east coast, this is the ideal time for a trip…or two…or three.
Last year, aka what the weather people called the worst winter in 80 years in Philadelphia, we didn’t head to warmer weather once. Bad idea. We all got a little cabin fever, so this year we planned ahead. We just got back from a fun 6 days in Florida with my fabulous in-laws in sunny Florida.
Even though a few of the days didn’t break 70 degrees, the sun was out and my girl... Continue Reading

I started practicing yoga long ago, and though I do lots of other types of workouts, I always come back to yoga as something that grounds me, that "gets rid of the crazy." It has a way of unwinding you, of making you look inward, and give you a sense of calm that last the rest of the day. It doesn't have to be intimidating--it's truly something for EVERYONE. Here are a few tips that will hopefully get you as excited as I am about yoga. Please remember, you can ask me questions any time on my Facebook page, and post pictures of your progress to help motivate us all!

I don't know if it gets any better than movie night at home with the family. There's no better feeling than cuddling up all together, and putting on a classic film.
Popcorn is a must, but it's fun to play around with different toppings. Set out a couple of different bowls, and have a taste test! My mom always made me popcorn with cheese sprinkles and M&Ms. I've been trying a few new topping ideas that are actually kind of good for you too! Hope you like :) Visit me on my Facebook page, and let me know which one you like best!

On a cold, rainy Friday night a couple of weeks ago, I took to the streets of historic downtown West Chester, PA to act as the “social host” for the Mars Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade presented by QVC. The weather may have been nasty, but the company and the experience was an incredible experience to connect with our local neighbors. The event featured marching bands from local colleges and high schools, spectacular floats, and the arrival of the one and only…SANTA CLAUS! According to USA Today, our annual parade is one of the top ten places in the country to experience the... Continue Reading

I can't even remember when my mom gave it to me. It’s one of those things a grown up gives you that mean so much to them, but in the self-centered haze of youth, means a forced "thanks" to you.
I didn't think about it much, but it made it through eight moves in ten years. It survived every time I cleaned out and got rid of things that didn't mean enough to pack up and move on to the new chapter; but it didn't get worn regularly until I started working at QVC.
Part of that is because my faith became even more important to me when I got to the east coast. I had a great church in San Di... Continue Reading

I like to eat gluten-free, and I'm always on the lookout for good recipes. But the key for me, as a non-cook, is that is has to be EASY! These cookies fit the bill, and taste so yummy.
Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
1 cup white sugar
1 cup peanut butter
18 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Combine sugar, peanut butter, and egg.
3. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on un-greased cookie sheet. NOTE: If dough is too sticky, refrigerate 1/2 hour or until easy to handle.
4. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove ... Continue Reading
