I had some fun with my four year olds this week as we got ready for Easter and enjoyed the awesome weather.
I got this idea on Pinterest and it was sooo easy. Just took pipe cleaners, which we have tons of since my girls like to put beads on them, popsicle sticks, pom poms and glue. Every item was available at our local dollar store so it was a cheap and fun craft.
I let the girls pick their colors then just helped them wrap the pipe cleaners around the sticks.
Then I helped Grace and Georgia put a dab of glue on the top of the sticks and drop on the pop po... Continue Reading

“Are the Halos charged?”
It’s a common battle cry in our household this winter. Every time our weather man comes on and tells us we will get yet another, round of snow, ice, wind, rain, pain, I call out to make sure every Halo is fully charged and ready to go. We have always been a Halo portable power family. We got the very first lipstick size charger that set so many records at QVC and started the whole portable power craze two Christmases ago
And since then we have upgraded to all the new versions along the way. But this one has been a blessing this w... Continue Reading

It’s (another) snow day, kids are home from school (again,) the Internet & cable are flickering from the intermittent power outages caused by another foot of wet heavy snow, and getting out of our pajamas before noon is probably not happening.
It’s February but it feels like we are still on Christmas break since our kids have been out of school more than they have been in so far this year. I have been trying so hard to keep up with my fitness routine but it seems like Mother Nature is working double time against me. I don’t belong to a gym... Continue Reading

CES is in Las Vegas, and is the largest Consumer Electronics Show of the year. It’s the time when everyone from Sony & Samsung to the smallest mom and pop inventor get a chance to show off the latest and greatest technology to 300 thousand retailers, manufacturers and media professionals. This year I was honored to attend along with Dan Wheeler and a dozen buyers, planers, directors & guests from of our huge electronics division at QVC.
It would be impossible to pick just one highlight of the five days. The technology we saw was mind blowing. But I will give you an idea of som... Continue Reading

Do you remember the last time you wrote a love note? My husband and I used to scribble our affectionate words to each other on post it notes almost daily. Sadly I can’t think of the last time I found one of those little yellow letters. These days we occasionally text each other “I love you,” or something similar. Lets be honest its not the same. Its not that our love has left, its just that our time has.
There has been even less time lately. It’s been a busy end of summer and fall in our home. For starters we left one to go to ... Continue Reading

She has just climbed down from her highchair, a small person with much on her mind. I bend down and begin picking up pieces of scrambled egg and toast she has dropped during her breakfast. Suddenly I feel arms around my neck. “Hug,” she says squeezing. I hug her back and laugh with pleasure, inhaling her baby smell. She finally lets go, steps back and solemnly lifts her face to be kissed. We kiss, and she goes. I am in love…
My mom wrote this about me when I was two years old. The worn piece of paper, complete with what looks like a coffee stain, that she has ... Continue Reading

I grew up listening to my step dad play the guitar. I remember summer vacations camping in Yosemite with him strumming by the fire. He played, and still does in church, and he practiced for months before my wedding where he played me three songs in lieu of his father speech at our reception.
I learned over the years that music is one of his true joys in life. He tried to teach me once when I was in grade school. I managed to get in a couple chords but quickly lost patience. I was more inclined to dance to the music than play it.
When I met my husband he ... Continue Reading

A message yesterday from my Auntie Mame…
That’s how its been since my family heard that the Perfecter was going to be back in stock. My aunts all used it last time they were at my house and fell in love! Usually I give them things they like when they come to visit but I really couldn’t give them that little grey curl maker, I use it every day!
My friend Maria from Calista Tools gave me mine late last year before it came on the air at QVC and then promptly sold out. Everyone in the building was a buzz about it since it was so unlike any other cur... Continue Reading

My pleasure in drinking water with bubbles started during an anniversary trip to Italy with my husband in 2006. It was fun to have fizzy water; it seemed a little more special and refreshing.
Then I got pregnant and sparkling water became an obsession. We would buy it by the case at the warehouse stores each week. It seemed that it was all I drank and I had to have it all the time.
Even after that nine months of thirst (and the 18 months of nursing after that made me even mo... Continue Reading
