You know I’m all about any holiday that gives me an excuse to whip up a batch of something totally scrumptious. And Valentine’s Day is no exception. But you might be surprised what’s on my menu for the day…Scotch Hash!
What…You were expecting some kind of chocolate-covered decadence? Of course, I always celebrate the big day with something sweet, too. But here’s the scoop on why Scotch Hash ranks as the most romantic meal on record in my book.
When my mom was just a cute, little 12-going-on-13-year-old girl, she spent her summer at White Lake Covenanter ... Continue Reading

Here in PA lately, the snow just won’t let up. But a little winter weather can’t stop us! It’s a special week here at Temp-tations, with tons of upcoming shows. That means a lot of extra excitement in the air. So, move over, polar vortex. We’ve got work to do!
But, really, how can I call it work? Temp-tations has always been a labor of love for me. It’s about my mom and the memories we share together. It’s about you and giving you a way to really connect with those you love. And when I hear just how much you love Temp-tations, too, it just makes me want t... Continue Reading

You may have heard somewhere (yes…I’m looking at you, DAVID!) that it’s my birthday today. And it’s a big one! Forty fabulous years. But you won’t find me worrying about the number. The bigger the number, the bigger the party, right? AND the bigger the cake.
But milestone birthdays do make you stop and think, don’t they? Like recently, when someone said to me, “You’re handling this whole 40 thing much better than I did.” And it really surprised me. Because I really and truly do believe birthdays are something to celebrate, no matter wh... Continue Reading

You know me. I am ALL about the comfort food! And more so than ever this time of year, when the ice and snow make me just want to curl up with something ooey-gooey and delicious. Mac and Cheese was invented for this time of year, don’t you agree?
But there comes a time – usually a week or two after all that holiday feasting - when my clothes start feeling a little more snug than they used to. And there’s nothing comfortable about that!
Add QVC’s Cook Event on top of that – with all my recipes to test (and sample) – and I might as well throw in the towel!

Happy almost 2014, Nistas! We did it! I can’t believe all the pictures you’ve shared over the past week…Amazing photos of your families, your holiday tables, your yummy Christmas morning traditions. I feel so lucky. Like I was right there celebrating with you!
Now that the Christmas presents and parties are all done, I’m finally taking a moment to cozy up in front of my Christmas tree (in the glow of my magical Bliss lights…still obsessed!) to look back at what made 2013 so special. Because the only resolution I’m making for 2014 is to spend more time on ... Continue Reading

Not even the Grinch himself could resist these adorable (and healthier) holiday Grinch Kabobs!
Now, let me be clear. I LOVE this time of year. The parties, the feasting, the cookie swaps…everything is all so unbelievably enticing and delicious.
But every gathering comes with some pretty tough choices. The Gingerbread Brownies or the Almond Bark? The Eggnog or my mom’s Overnight French Toast Casserole for Christmas morning? Decisions, decisions…what’s a famished foodie to do? And the toughest call of all…exactly how early do I need to set my alarm so I c... Continue Reading

We’ve all been there: jumping into the holiday season with a calendar full of fabulous hang-outs, brunches and parties; wracking our brains for just the right hostess gift.
Now is the perfect time to plan ahead. Of course, you can never go wrong with a bottle of wine. But I’m a sucker for a hostess gift that shows I went the extra mile and added a personal touch with one particular hostess in mind.
This tradition (okay…obsession) started for me years and years ago. I was giving a dinner party, and though it wasn’t my very first, I was still a little nervous. My close... Continue Reading

This time of year, I love that so many of my friends and family take the time to share the things they’re thankful for every day. It’s such a small thing that means so much. Especially during the busiest time of year. Taking time to express gratitude helps keep us all focused on what it is that really counts.
Of course with birds to stuff, menus to plan, family to coordinate…it’s so easy to lose sight of that! But I have a little trick to help me remember to get my thanks on. No matter how busy I am, when I look down and see my hands wrapping, prepping, chopping or wa... Continue Reading

One of my favorite parts about the holidays, aside from cooking and eating delicious foods and sharing memories with friends and family, is the morning I set the holiday table. For me, it's like the equivalent of starting out with a blank canvas, and creating a simple and beautiful piece of artwork to please the eye, and make any experience at the table a little more fun.
Believe it or not, I actually like to be a little "impromptu" when it comes to setting the table. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have ideas and plans before hand, but it is sometimes fun to gather many options, variation... Continue Reading
