Happy Birthday, my Kaylee-Bear!

Last Reply by BLH 1396967181.17 | Started by Sharon Faetsch in Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

A couple of days ago, it was my daughter's 7th birthday.  I can't believe how much my life has changed in the last seven years.  From sleepless nights and colic, to first steps and first days of school.   Now she is reading books about Laura Ingalls Wilder and Martin Luther King Jr.    I can't imagine what is going to happen next!  She wanted to have a party at Build-A-Bear this year, and I was a little apprehensive.  We had never had a birthday party for the kids outside of our own house before, and I had no idea what to expect.  Luckily, everyth... Friday Night Side: Garlic & Parmesan Broccoli

Started by Sharon Faetsch in Kitchen & Food Talk, Recipe Swap, Hosts & Personalities 1390839805.783

My Friday Night Meal this week revolves around fresh flavors.  When it comes to fish, I usually want a clean flavor with a delicate but slightly firm texture.  One of my favorite types of fish is Australis Barramundi Sea Bass.  In my opinion, it is more delicious than most restaurant fish dishes, and there are many ways to prepare it.    My favorite is the baking method, because it's so quick and easy.  The hard part is coming up with a good side dish to go with it.  My family loves broccoli, but I'm always looking for ways to serve it that don't involve a ... Visiting the Warmth of Argentina with Food!

Last Reply by katvil 1390764214.7 | Started by Sharon Faetsch in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

I don't know about you, but I am almost ready for this winter to be over.  When it's really cold, and summer vacation is still months away, I sometimes want to take a vacation through the foods I prepare for my family.  My Friday Night Meal this week revolves around a dish called an empanada.  Whether you had one last week, or have never even heard of one, I can promise you they are delicious!  I first sampled the Authentic Argentinian Empanadas a few months ago, and almost lost my mind.  The flavors are rich, and because of the way they are crafted, they are very easy... The Return of The Wishful Dish – We’re Serving Easy (Cheesy) Chili

Started by Sharon Faetsch in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs 1388417392.147

When the wind is blowing, and it's chilly outside, I love to settle down with a bowl of something hearty.  This is the time of year when I look forward to simple and delicious comfort food.  I have a quick and easy comfort food meal the whole family will love, and it's from Laurie's Kitchen!  You may already be familiar with their delicious soup mixes, but this recipe is all about chili. It's White Bean and Chicken Chili, and you can make it in about 30 minutes.  All you really need is 2 cups of cooked, diced chicken, 4 cups of water, and the soup mix.  However, I got ... Honeybells Are Here!!

So, it's that magical time of year again, where there are lights on the tree, and there's a chill in the air.  It's that special time of year where we hope for new beginnings, make resolutions, and enjoy a box full of sunshine.  What's inside this box of sunshine, you ask?  Honeybells, of course!  Just when you feel like the winter is starting to get you down, and you would like to take a cruise to some tropical locale, Honeybells come to the rescue!  They are one of the sweetest citrus fruits I've ever had, and one of the juiciest.  They are so juicy, they come... The Wishful Dish is Back!!

Started by Sharon Faetsch in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs 1387813812.96

Christmas is almost here, and The Wishful Dish is back!   It's been almost three months since the last Wishful Dish, and with the craziness of the holidays upon us, I'm ready to get back to basics.  While the show is still about everyday cooking, and getting food on the table fast, there are some changes this time around.  I will still have a blog, but it won't necessarily be every week.  Also, instead of always including a recipe of my own with every blog, I would love to hear from you.  If there is anything you would like to see, or a recipe that you would l... The National Christmas Museum - A Trip Back in Time!

Last Reply by Pegasus22 1386731730.973 | Started by Sharon Faetsch in Fashion Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

In case you missed my visit to the National Christmas Museum last weekend on QVC, I wanted to share a little bit about the Museum. It’s in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Paradise PA. This is a great representation of what Christmas was like in years past.  A nostalgic time before technology evolved into what it is today. A simple time with simple but meaningful things. The founder, Jim Morrison, wanted his visitors to “see Christmas through the eyes of a child” just as he did years ago.  He spoke about when he was young and purchased his first Christma... Halloween - We're Very Well Protected Now!

Last Reply by NenaG 1387091784.963 | Started by Sharon Faetsch in Fashion Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year.  As a child, you get to play "dress up" in public and get free candy. As an adult, you get to feel like a kid again!  In our house, we like to make it a family affair. We have done a family of vampires (and they just LOVE fruit juice. That's why their lips are so red, right?), Little Bo Peep and her sheep, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, and Hansel and Gretel and the Witch.  This year my son, Desmond, is Batman, my daughter, Kaylee, is Batgirl, and my husband, Langdon, will be The Joker with me as Catwoman.  My kids are fa... Mini Taco Bowls

Here’s another recipe from Santiabby.Likes.com I can’t wait to try! Who doesn’t love tacos - and these look fun and easy! Great as an appetizer or a tasty meal and everyone can customize their own taco - I'm thinking little ones would love that part! Mini Taco Bowls Makes 12 individual tacos: Cook 1 pound of ground hamburger thoroughly, drain and return to a clean skillet. In a separate skillet, saute the 1/2 diced onion and 1 large jalapeno (If you like a little heat) and add it to the hamburger. Blend in the seasoning (see below) and toss to coat. Heat the mixture...
