In case you missed my visit to the National Christmas Museum last weekend on QVC, I wanted to share a little bit about the Museum. It’s in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Paradise PA. This is a great representation of what Christmas was like in years past. A nostalgic time before technology evolved into what it is today. A simple time with simple but meaningful things.
The founder, Jim Morrison, wanted his visitors to “see Christmas through the eyes of a child” just as he did years ago.
He spoke about when he was young and purchased his first Christma... Continue Reading

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. As a child, you get to play "dress up" in public and get free candy. As an adult, you get to feel like a kid again! In our house, we like to make it a family affair. We have done a family of vampires (and they just LOVE fruit juice. That's why their lips are so red, right?), Little Bo Peep and her sheep, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, and Hansel and Gretel and the Witch. This year my son, Desmond, is Batman, my daughter, Kaylee, is Batgirl, and my husband, Langdon, will be The Joker with me as Catwoman. My kids are fa... Continue Reading

The Wishful Dish swings in again this Monday, with some great ideas to help you get food on the table! I know we are all exhausted by Friday, so I want to help you put together a Friday Night Meal that is quick, easy, and delicious! This is the first time I will have David's Cheeseburger Potstickers from the Perfect Gourmet in my show, so I wanted to make this the focus this week.
You have never had a cheeseburger like this before! What I love about them is that you get such full, delicious flavor in a cute, bite-sized package. You can make ... Continue Reading

It's the last Wishful Dish of the season, and I'm looking forward to fall! When it gets chilly outside, I love to warm up with a delicious bowl of soup. The best part is you can control your ingredients and the amount of sodium when you make it yourself. So, for the Friday Night Meal this week, we have new crab and shrimp cakes from The Great Gourmet. Asparagus and seafood go so beautifully together, and recently I enjoyed a crab cake at a party that was paired with an asparagus soup. It was a wonderful combination! Now, if you are not so sure about as... Continue Reading

Here’s another recipe from Santiabby.Likes.com I can’t wait to try! Who doesn’t love tacos - and these look fun and easy! Great as an appetizer or a tasty meal and everyone can customize their own taco - I'm thinking little ones would love that part!
Mini Taco Bowls
Makes 12 individual tacos:
Cook 1 pound of ground hamburger thoroughly, drain and return to a clean skillet. In a separate skillet, saute the 1/2 diced onion and 1 large jalapeno (If you like a little heat) and add it to the hamburger. Blend in the seasoning (see below) and toss to coat. Heat the mixture... Continue Reading

Summer may be quickly coming to an end, but we are not done with grilling season yet! This week on The Wishful Dish, we have some of the tastiest hot dogs in the universe! Well, I actually like to call them "steak" dogs, because they are made from steak trimmings. That's why they taste so good! They are from Kansas City Steak company, and they sold out the last time they were on, so don't miss them! I've included this LINK if you want to check them out. They make a perfect Friday Night Meal, because they are so easy to prepare. Also, since they ship frozen, you will have them by Friday! ... Continue Reading

There are only a couple of weeks left before the kids go back to school, so let’s make the most of it! My Friday Night Meal on The Wishful Dish this week is from Corky's.
Ribs and seasoned wings are definitely great flavors for summer, and I was thinking about how beautiful corn on the cob would be with it. How do you dress up corn on the cob? With a simple herb butter! Regardless of whether you boil the corn or grill it, this butter will get your corn to the next level! Here is the recipe:
Chive Herb Butter
1 stick of butter, softened
1/4 cup chives, snipped

These are baked (as opposed to fried) mini muffins. They're a bit healthier than fried ones.
To make 24-48 mini muffins:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray a mini muffin pan with cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 2 tsp of cinnamon.
In another large bowl, whisk together 1 large egg, 2/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of apple butter, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1/3 cup of honey, 1/3 cup of apple cider, 1/3 cup of plain yogurt, and 2 Tbsp of canola oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry i... Continue Reading

The Wishful Dish is back! We only have a couple of shows left before we shift to Gourmet Holiday shows on Mondays at 5pm. So, this week we have a great Friday Night Meal that will make everyone's mouth water! Chicken Parmaroni, anyone?
Imagine getting home on Friday, at the end of a long week, and just pulling this out of the freezer for dinner............delish. The only way this could be improved upon would be to serve a quick and easy garlic bread with it. Crispy or soft, you say? Well, that depends on my mood. So, I thought I would share both.......
Garlic Bread 2 W... Continue Reading
