For me, I think of my mom cooking a great meal, putting the Band-Aid on a scraped up knee, or reminding me that brown shoes equals a brown belt. Thank you mom. However, my mom and tech….. not so much. While the other mother in my life (my wife) is surrounded by technology with a smartphone, laptop, iPad® mini, and DVRing every singing show on the planet, my mom has been the opposite. She was the last one I know to get cell phone. She... That’s so true. Fifteen years ago, who would have thought we needed a smartphone, an iPad, or even a computer to make it through our busy days? Not me. I think back to my college days when email was just a fun way to say “hi” to a friend halfway across the country. Today, apps dominate our lives with constant access to news, email, sports scores, games and more. My iPad ... Using the touch of a finger to access the web, answer emails, play games and more is a revolutionary experience. If you’re having a blast as part of this ever expanding community, it may be time to take the next step and try a Mac. With the new Mountain Lion® operating system the world of tablets and computers are colliding in spectacular fashion.
All told, there are more than 200 new features on this new o... Alright let’s get the obligatory information out first. Yes, I had a lot of fun. Yes, I DID work. Yes, I lost a little money. However, the most impressive thing I saw all week was the influence one company had over the event, and it was a company that wasn’t even there. Of course, I’m talking about Apple. The tech giant from Cupertino doesn’t set up a booth in the middle of the 150,000 people combing the convention center floor, but their influence is everywhere. Hundreds of other c... In my house we reached a few milestones this year. My youngest daughter is officially potty trained (YES! YES! YES!), while my oldest learned to ride a bike, joined the swim team, and started kindergarten. Watching their bodies and brains develop is amazing and filled with so many of those “how did she do that” moments. Not surprisingly, tech has been there along the way.
I have to admit, the first time I gently placed an iPad in my daughters’ hands, lea... Yeah, things have changed a bit in the last few years. Now, tablets are a must have for everyone. They are the quick and easy way to connect, surf the web, play games, and basically, consume all kinds of high tech fun. The challenge comes in trying to find the one that fits you, and speaking of one that fits, the super slim Toshiba Excite fits almost anywhere.
Toshiba’s venture into the tablet world has been an impressive one, and it all starts with the screen. At 10”, it’s among the biggest around, yet they’ve... We are going to offer an extra special value for the Apple MacBook Pro, and judging by the popularity of the iPod and iPad here at the Q, it's going to be one wild ride. The MacBook Pro is the 13" version of one of the most popular computers in the world. While I do love my PC, I've also been a Mac owner for years. In fact, if you were to comb through my office closet, you would find my original MacBook which looks like a tank compared to the sleek 13.3" one that you'll see on Sunday.
So what is it about Apple an... Back in my mullet-wearing days, my friends and I would hang out in someone’s basement to listen to the latest Rush album or spin some classic Led Zeppelin. Today, the iPad®, smartphones, and MP3 players have transitioned those music experiences into something more personal. How many times have you walked down the street, strolled through the park, or gone to the mall and seen dozens of people going about their day with a cord dangling out of their ear? It happens ever... For me, the iPad is a great way to get my kids to learn their ABCs. Other times, it's a way to listen to my favorite music or play a game. On a quiet Saturday morning, it's my newspaper to go along with a cup of coffee. However, if I needed to pick just one thing, it has to be my new on demand TV watching device.
I've got two kids, a great wife, and one crazy schedule, so trying to coordinate time to watch anything is nearly impossible. Sundays at 10pm. Wednesday at 9pm. Sorry TV man, I'v... We all have those "you had to be there" kind of moments, but sadly the details start to fade as the years go by. However, a picture or video helps keep the memory alive, and what better time to create those memories than the glorious days of summer? For me, I border on being paparazzi with my family, and lately I've been using an HP camcorder to capture those great moments.
This HP camcorder will be the TSV(sm) on Thursday June 14th, and I can't wait to show it off. First and most im... Continue Reading
