It Doesn’t take a Village to Create Each Piece – it Takes a Town!

Hi everyone. Beth and the team just returned from visiting our factories in Bangkok, Thailand. Whenever you travel, it’s always good to immerse yourself in the culture. Beth and the team experienced Thai culture by visiting this restaurant and saw these Thai dancers in their elegant, traditional outfits while having dinner.   During Beth’s trip, she worked with our master carvers and was able to get a hands-on look at how our TSV tennis bracelet is made.   In the photos, you’ll see how our jewelry is first carved in wax, a process done completely by hand....   Hi friends. I hope that everyone had a delightful Thanksgiving. This year, I made a fabulous sweet potato pie with marshmallows. For me, November was a busy month. Of course, Thanksgiving was great but I also had a wonderful time at our small holiday get-together. It was such a treat to get to see how you Ripkanize your pieces. My only complaint is that I wish I could have spent the holidays with all of you.   A very special surprise guest joined us – my dear friend and QVC host, Lisa Robertson. She joined in on the festivities and wore a gorgeous pair of my heart earrings... Continue Reading

Happy November

Hello friends and Happy November. I love November because it is the real start of the holiday season. The holidays are always busy for everyone, but they really are a magical time of year. My favorite part of the holidays is spending time with my family, my closest friends, and all of the people that are important to me.    In the rush of our busy, day-to-day lives, it’s easy to forget about slowing down and being present in the moment. Thankfully, the upcoming season is the perfect opportunity for this. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of my grandchildren. Th... Continue Reading

Hi everyone. I am really happy to be back with you for October’s shows and to introduce you to a lovely new item. As you know, I design jewelry that should be worn all the time. As I always say, my pieces can go from blue jeans to black tie! Versatility is so important and I believe that my designs are for everything from the soccer game to the gala. My calendar is filled with special events that mean so much to me. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and every year, I attend the Breast Cancer Research Fund luncheon. My dear friend, the late Evelyn Lauder, founded the BCR... Continue Reading

Time for Change

Hello everyone. I cannot believe that the fall equinox is less than two weeks away. This time of year always has me thinking about change and I especially love seeing these seasonal changes in nature.    One of my favorite things to see during these months is the northern lights. These bright curtains of color light up the sky with beautiful hues of pink, green, violet, and blue.  When you look at my fall collection, you will see how this dynamic time of year influenced my designs. My newest Interchangeable Sterling Cuff is a perfect example. The easy-on, easy-off piece has a... Continue Reading

Inspiration from the Natural World

Dear friends,  The end of summer is bittersweet. I love the longer days, pleasant temperatures and spending time outside but I am also looking forward to everything that autumn has to offer. Before the summer is over, I am spending as much time outside as I can. One of my greatest sources of inspiration for my jewelry is the beauty of nature. From scenic sunsets to blue skies, I always feel very inspired when I have the chance to witness these natural events. Recently, Ron and I went to a dinner party at our friends’ home and I was struck by the stunning sky and the remarkable se... Continue Reading

A Sparkling, Stackable, Sculpture-Filled Summer

Hello everyone. Can you believe it is already July? This summer is really flying by, and I hope that you are all creating your own special memories. I think that it is so important to take time to enjoy the beautiful weather. Ron and I have been doing just that. I always say that if I did not spend my life creating jewelry, I would be making sculptures. There is something very moving about giant, life-size pieces and I especially love when they are outdoors. Because my jewelry is scaled so differently, creating giant sculptures would give me a new sense of freedom. This summer, Ron and I hav... Continue Reading

Hello All, I’m so excited to be back with you for our June shows, and to tell you about my fantastic trip to the Couture show in Las Vegas last week.  Every year I look forward to Couture, which is one of the most important shows in the US for the luxury jewelry industry.  Couture is a chance for me to meet with industry partners, stone suppliers, and media from around the world.  I have so many ideas for my new collections from this show that my head is spinning! The setting for Couture is the Wynn Hotel, which immediately impresses with its carousel made of flowers and... Continue Reading

Hello to all and Happy Spring!  It’s been a busy couple of months for me and I have some exciting news to share about some developments in my business.  Everyone who knows me will tell you that, after my family, the thing I am most passionate about in the world is designing beautiful things to delight my customers.  For me, the creative process is as natural as breathing, and I can’t imagine my life without an idea for a new design forming in the back of my mind. A Quick Two Day Trip to Balmy Bangkok Thailand and the New TSV

Last Reply by Pamula 1401383223.353 | Started by Judith Ripka in Jewelry Talk, Judith Ripka, Hosts & Personalities

In between my last appearance at QVC in early February and my upcoming shows this weekend, I took a quick trip to Bangkok to visit my factories there and to work with them on future products.  While the cold wave hit the U.S., I was sweltering in humid 95 degree weather, where my clothes stuck to my body, and my hair went all frizzy, so no pictures of me. I work with factories throughout the world, some in the U.S., others in Italy, India, and Thailand.  Each factory has a unique expertise and skill, so as I create the concept for a new design, my production team determines which fa...
