Joe n I originally had plans to go to a couple's retreat to celebrate Valentine's Day, but the snow put a damper on that, so we went with plan B ....... the Big Apple, NYC! A little snow cud never stop the city that never sleeps!
We had a fab' late lunch at Balthazar in soho, then saw 'Jersey Boys' on Broadway.
From there we went to the Freedom tower...quiet, peaceful snow falling. Was very emotional. Almost 13 yrs ... and still hurts so bad

I want to scream. I just wrote this whole blog, went to cut/paste it, and then…it won't paste. Poof, it's gone. Omgosh, these moments, where you lose everything on a computer, are the kind that drive me BONKERS. UGHHHHHHHH! That ever happen to you?
Ok, let me try again…
Sitting on couch in jammies, watching Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel eat some pretty odd food in Japan. Would love this guy's job. Or Samantha Brown's (what ever happened to her on TTC?) Or frankly any gig that would pay me, even meager sums, to travel for a living. Anywho. I lucked out to... Continue Reading

I wish Christmas could last forever. Not the day, but the lead up. The magic, the anticipation, the Christmas songs that play 24/7 on the radio, the Christmas ads with Santa, the wrapping (even tho I hate it) bc it's a sign something big is coming. And mostly, the hope. The extra patience or slightly boosted joy people have. The world is just kinder, softer I find, at Christmas. And yet the minute it hits midnight on 26th, it's yanked out from under you so quickly you get whiplash. Decorations come down, music stops, and in a flash, what you've spent months preparing for, is sw... Continue Reading

It's Saturday afternoon. My husband Joe is sacked out on couch, napping. And me, I'm in my Jammie's (it's 3:29pm granted) staring at roaring fire, sipping Keurig chai latte (addiction. It's like candy tea) and lamenting a sudden warm burst that has melted all our snow. Winter just isn't winter when the grass is showing.
As I look back on this year, it's been a crazy and blessed one. Busy. Jam packed with life, love, work, travel, friend stuff, family stuff. It feels like i lived several lifetimes in this one year. I got married this year.
Never thought at 40 I'd find my soul mate. F... Continue Reading

It's that time, and frankly, I dread one part of it every year. Shopping for my Mom.
She is, hands down, the hardest person in my life to buy for. Ugh. She is eclectic and eccentric and has unique taste and has everything (bc at 75 you normally do) and she is somewhat limited in these later years in terms of her mobility, so for so many reasons, my brother and I groan over what to delight her with, each year. Whoever your "Mom" person is, I thought I'd spend this blog sharing my 2013 'Top Ten' list for gifts and stockings. These are ge... Continue Reading

I discovered and got hooked on American Idol, several years after the show began. I only started watching after hearing the constant excitement and chatter about it from my coworkers in the break room, the cafeteria, the hallways ……. just about everywhere throughout QVC. After all, I didn't want to be the only one not in the loop. And, I was definitely glad I tuned in; I fell in love with the show and had lots of fun on break talking about it with my coworkers! But still, something was missing for me!
Nobody at home wanted to watch with me and I longed for a little American Idol... Continue Reading

I'm staring at my Christmas tree. I know, insane, it's not even Halloween.
I finally found the one that for years I have been pining for. (No pun intended, pine-ing). A long needle country pine, like the country cabin Christmas trees, but done in artificial. (How come nobody does long needle faux pines?). It arrived...in a huge-normous box. And instead of dragging it downstairs into my utility closet to store for a month...before dragging it back UPSTAIRS to setup for "the season"...I decided now was as good a time as any. I love it. Only regret is I should have ordered the 9... Continue Reading

Apologies my lovelies (and gentlemen) for the tardiness of this writing. I was honeymooning in Europe the first two weeks of September, so this month's blog took a backseat to pasta, pizza, croissants, red wine, sunning, swimming, and overall, me dreaming of how I could move to Europe and earn a living. Thus far it would appear my only hope is waiting tables (which I love) street performing (which doesn't require a work permit, but I have no musical OR instrumental talent) or begging someone European to adopt me as a grown adult. Frankly, none seem within the realm of possibility but then agai... Continue Reading

Sipping glass of white wine. HVAC guy is here checking furnace before we head into my fav season, FALL! I could live perpetually somewhere that was Fall year round. Glorious smells and feel and sounds to the season. Harvest is the bomb, in my book. I love the food (cobbler, butternut squash bisque, hearty flavors) I love the scents (the air when it goes crisp, the wood burning and wafting) and I love the sounds (kids trick or treating, crackling fires, the roar of football touchdown cheers). Must be the Midwest in me. I find it a very pensive, cathartic time. It's a time that makes m... Continue Reading
