I have a bazillion candles: tall, short, fat, thin, white and colored, shaped, and cylindrical. They soothe my soul, instantly inspire me to S-L-O-W down, and magically add calm to my world. Yes, they’re unequivocally romantic, and we often light them for “special occasions,” but we also pray with them, show our compassion with them, and celebrate with them (blow out birthday candles recently?). They’re always appropriate, either as a gift for that “special someone” or for someone we don’t know too well. They’re functional, but they’re much... Continue Reading

Like most people I love a good photograph, but I’ve never been the one carrying around the camera. I’m the friend who says shoot me copies will ya? Basically I’ve made do with what I’ve been able to get with my camera phone. But I’m not crazy, I knew I was missing a lot. So I grabbed the Canon T4i and started snapping.
I have two cats, Bailey and Olivia, and much to their chagrin they are always my subjects. I pulled out the Canon and fired away….
Oh my gosh… it was so crazy fun! First of all, I felt like a “real photographer” for the f... Continue Reading

I’ve always thought hanging plants or flowers make a space look extra homey. I especially love hanging them inside in wide doorways to separate rooms, or outside suspended from porches or gazebos. That’s why I’m really excited about this Bethlehem Lights hanging pansy basket (coming up at midnight tonight!). They come in six color choices, and they look incredibly realistic with that “pansy face” we’re all familiar with. Also, because they’re from Bethlehem Lights, you know there has to be some sort of illumination.
This time it’s a swee... Continue Reading

Be radiant, just in time for spring and summer, with your new EASY (I promise) and more importantly anti-aging routine.
We all want bright radiant skin right??? But, if you're like me, perhaps you're a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and the (sometimes) complicated process. Honestly when I first came to Q, there were so many different products that I just didn't know where to start. Well, here's the "where"... for the skincare beginner, the intermediate, and the pro.
You start with Philosophy. Skincare is the foundation of Philosophy. In other words they know what they're... Continue Reading

I’m the kind of cleaner who loves instant gratification. I like washing dishes, cleaning mirrors, and vacuuming. The results are immediate and gratifying. Growing up we kids had household chores, and I always took a certain kind of pride in vacuuming. We had a big living room rug that was special, read “expensive,” so I had to be particularly thorough with that one.
These days, it feels like I’m vacuuming all of the time. I have two cats, so “hair all over the place” is my number one problem. That’s why I’m especially excited about our Electro... Continue Reading

So my best girlfriend of 34 years decided that this is “Thankful November” and that every day for a month she was going to say something on facebook that she was thankful for. Well not to be outdone, and because I think it’s a great idea, I decided to do the same thing. This should be really easy right? I mean I consider myself to be extremely blessed. I know for a fact that I have a bazillion things to be thankful for, but weird thoughts started to creep into my head like… what kind of things should I say, what if I forget to post on one day, what if I run out o... ..That makes it feel like Summer.
Summer is here (tomorrow) and it’s already heating up in the Philadelphia area.
This past weekend temperatures were officially sizzling, and in my mind... soaring temperatures = ice cream. Turns out I'm not the only one who feels that way. I walked up to the ice cream parlor window and had to smile. I was in line with moms and dads and a gaggle of kids all eagerly anticipating that first taste. Oh the agony of making the right decision. What shall it be??? Something sweet or tangy or with chips or without? As I watched, every person turned away f... Continue Reading

You know Mother’s Day is one of those funny holidays because honestly, I think every day is Mother’s Day. See, I’m still crazy close to my mom. I talk to her pretty much every week, and we still end every phone call with “I love you.” So, the challenge on Mother’s Day is “how do I tell her on this particular day, in a different way, how much I love and appreciate her?”
When I was little, I would make something to give her… a hand drawn picture, a hook rug, or a piece of pottery that I made in class. As I got older, my brother, sister... Continue Reading

Can the clothes you wear really make you perform better? You know what? I say “yes.”
I was working out this morning and I realized that I worked out harder today than when I wore my ratty sweats and t-shirt. Could it be as simple as my clothes? Yup. Today I was wearing my favorite pants and top, and for some reason, I was just inspired. I had on the right uniform, you see, and it really made all difference.
We always say you need the right tool for the job, and that applies to clothes too. We take the time to select the right dress for that special dinner, or to wear the proper u... Continue Reading
