Summer Vacation: Visiting My Family

Last Reply by mtnbikegirl 1412099986.953 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Q Did What?, The Q We Love, Hosts & Personalities

With the calendar start of fall, we know it for sure; the summer of 2014 is officially a wrap. This summer was a milestone for me because I got to visit my family, outside of the Christmas holiday, for the first time in decades! Two glorious trips filled with lazy days and much frolicking. Lazy: I spent time in the hammock, or playing Yahtzee with my two nieces. My brother and I would sit and chat in the yard. The weather was so beautiful that we’d have dinner outside. I had cherished alone time with my siblings and my mom. Frolicking: I got to be goofy with my nephews. ... Continue Reading

My Vacation to Martha's Vineyard: All of the Must-Sees and Must-Eats!

Last Reply by cairnlover 1408300031.903 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Hosts & Personalities

I spent a summer on Martha’s Vineyard between my sophomore and junior years in college, and I’ve been enchanted with the place ever since. Michele, Doreen, and I have been friends since college. I recently joined Michele’s family vacation for four jam-packed days.  We biked along the beach and spent fun time in the water…. A nice outdoor shower kept me going after a day at the beach. If you’re ever on the island, you must stop by this lighthouse. I go every time I visit to take in the view.    Larsen’s Fish Market in Menemsh... Continue Reading

Everything Glitters in Vegas!

Started by Rachel Boesing in Jewelry Talk, Diamonique, Hosts & Personalities 1403735546.29

Vegas baby! Earlier this month I attended JCK, the leading jewelry event in North America. Our jewelry team attends each year to see what’s hot, what’s new, and what’s next (and to place orders for our QVC selection). I spent time with each buyer to learn about jewelry, and how we procure our amazing assortment. Fun, right? These are some of my fearless leaders-- Natalie, Peyton, David, and Jennifer.   Each of our jewelry buyers meets with a variety of vendors. In each meeting our buyers select pieces and make design adjustments. On day one, Natalie and I combed thr... Continue Reading

Summertime = Trips with Friends!

Last Reply by Sivie Ann 1402760512.04 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Hosts & Personalities

Summertime = soul enriching visits with friends across the nation. I spent the bulk of my career in news, which means that I’ve always lived far away from dear friends and family. While I always visited family, there was little time left for friends whom I adore. Over the past three years at QVC, I’ve put seeing friends at the top of my bucket list.   I returned to my heart-city of Chicago. Michele was one of the first people I met at Brown (I knew her children before they were born!!!). Summertime = multiple busy schedules, so we visited, laughed, and ate ice cream ... My Beauty Truth

Last Reply by JavaQueen 1400637178.48 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Beauty Banter, Hosts & Personalities

My beauty truth: I’ve always been extremely self-conscious about the dark circles under my eyes.  In fact, when I was told I had to wear glasses, I was a bit relieved because the glasses went a long way toward hiding the dark circles. For our beauty truth or dare, I decided to tackle the dark circles… Here’s my “before” without any make-up (and dark circles front and center). My first step was to apply It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in tan. After I blended the concealer, I swept my eyes with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Finishing Powder. Then ... Continue Reading

My Visit to Rocky Mount, North Carolina

Last Reply by judy ann 1407871269.84 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Q Did What?, The Q We Love, Hosts & Personalities

Last week I visited our distribution center in Rocky Mount, N.C. to honor our Shining Star Award recipients. These are folks who, over the course of the year, have done such an outstanding job that it just screamed to be recognized. But before I go on about themJ, let me tell you about the place. Rocky Mount is our largest of five distribution centers. It is 1.5 million square feet, and can hold about 12 million pieces at once. During peak season, these address machines (lower right hand corner) can process about 1,000 packages an hour! This is a “hard goods” facility, so things li... Continue Reading

I Made My Own Jewelry!

Last Reply by Justice4all 1398267582.887 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Jewelry Talk, The Q We Love, Hosts & Personalities

I present jewelry a lot, and I often talk about how a specific piece of jewelry is made, but I wanted to get some hands on experience, so I took a class. The class was Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design, and jewelry designer Susan Roggio was our fearless leader. I chose to make a necklace and three bangles. Before anyone lifted a finger, Sue demonstrated the steps we would need to take in order to complete the pieces.   I had pieces of nickel alloy and copper, and I started by cutting out my shapes and putting designs on my metal Then Su... Need a Hair Color Change? Try a Wig First!

Last Reply by Honeylips 1410802989.127 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Q Did What?, The Q We Love, Hosts & Personalities

Just kidding!! It's a wig :) But I had you fooled didn't I? That's how good our wigs are! I loved this blonde wig the minute I put it on. I love the Blonde Ambition cut, and the completely realistic coloring (with the darker roots and the different shades of blonde).  I put it on and I feel…”polished”. The cut is precise, it’s longer on one side, and falls in that perfect “straight from the salon” way. You don’t often see a sister with blonde hair, so I feel very conspicuous. I met my girlfriend for dinner, and I send her a text that says ... Continue Reading

Dress for Success Gala 2014: Something to Share

Last Reply by Snowhite714 1404175523.687 | Started by Rachel Boesing in Q Did What?, The Q We Love, Hosts & Personalities

Last Thursday, Dress for Success held their fundraising gala called Something to Share. QVC had the distinction of being the corporate honoree. Over the years QVC has donated over 5,000 items to the organization. While I haven’t donated that much , I’ve donated to Dress for Success for years. I am proud of my relationship with the organization, so when QVC tapped me to attend the gala, I was honored and ready. Rita Yarsinsky (my trusty Facebook partner) and I hopped on the bus and headed to NYC. It was a formal affair, so before dinner we ate passed hors d’oe... Continue Reading

A Return To My Youth

What’s a dramatic change that only takes a second? A wig.  In the next four weeks I’ll be “Wiggin’ Out.” I’ll wear four different wigs in four weeks, and share the story each week.   Years ago, wearing a wig meant you had something to hide (loss of hair or an illness), and keeping the wig a secret was crucial. These days, wearing a wig is like putting on false eyelashes, fake nails, or getting your hair colored. You could just as easily be wearing a wig for fun and adventure (hello my Las Vegas friends), as for actual coverage. Regardless of wh... Continue Reading
