Doesn’t matter where you are in this great country of ours – coast to coast, summer is here in all of its blazing red, white and blue glory. It is definitely HOT here on the East Coast ~ scorching is more like it. When the sun is sizzling and the temperatures are barely cool at dusk, I cannot think of a better way to cool off than with an icy cold drink (or four). I've been fortunate in my life to live in a lot of wonderful places, but I must say, I find the spring season to be so beautiful here in Pennsylvania! The magnolias and forsythia are in full bloom. The birds are nesting and the sun is warm. The earth is changing and awakening a little more each day all around us.

January is the start to a brand-new year, and QVC has an exciting new cooking event coming up on the 25th. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to announce this, but during the past two months, I’ve been using the new Cook’s Essentials aluminum colored nonstick cookware set in my home. I've just returned from Utah where I shared the most wonderful Christmas with my four sons, their wives, and my seven grandchildren. It was “most” wonderful because of the news that Abigail, my son Joe’s wife, is going to have twin girls in May, and Susan, my son Mike’s wife, is having their fourth child, another girl, also in May. Next year there will be three more young Warden ladies at our Christmas dinner.

I'm in my kitchen trying to work on new Ninja Storm recipes for our upcoming Today's Special Value on May 25, but the goings-on out my window overlooking the Delaware River constantly divert my attention. This is my first spring on the river and a multitude of river birds are putting on a nonstop show. The most spectacular entertainment is provided by the incursion of several bald eagles and a couple of osprey below the weir, upriver just above my shoreline condo.
