It’s true! I am a nail polish hoarder! But even if you don’t have a lot of nail polish around the house, you can make these ornaments.
Thankfully, it doesn’t really even take much polish for each ornament and you can use the cheapest bottles of polish you can find.
For the last two years, I have purchased inexpensive clear ornaments at the craft store. All you need to do is remove the top of the ornament and pour your nail polish into the top. You don’t need to use a lot because once you start to swirl it around, you will see the polish cover th... Continue Reading

As stressful as the holidays can be, we always make time for the traditions that mean the most to us. Some of us spend hours decorating our homes and trees, while others invest creativity into the perfect gift and the prettiest packaging to go along with it.
Baking cookies around the holidays is one of my favorite traditions that brings all of us together. (My mom, sisters, and our kids)
(This is my nephew and the newest member of our family!)
We use the same recipes each year and like to add in a new one here and there. What hasn't changed for as long as I can remember is my Mom's m... Continue Reading

Like many people in many professions, QVC hosts work a lot of holidays. This year, I'm working on Thanksgiving, which means we won't be traveling on the day to see our out-of-town family members. So, my husband and two daughters and I are celebrating with a small dinner for four. At first, I was a little bummed about not sitting down to a huge spread with our extended family, but then I decided this little party is going to be awesome. I am at my happiest when the four us are together with no distractions and my kids love making crafts, so let the festivities begin!
I told my g... Continue Reading

A few nights ago, I had to get ready for work and so my husband offered to cook dinner. I cook about 90% of the meals in our house, but when my husband cooks, it's always really good. However, I wasn't prepared for his meal to come together so quickly and for the kitchen to still look spotless. Fast and only one pot to clean.. two reasons I love the pressure cooker! The pressure cooker also makes this so much easier than a traditional risotto, which usually involves a lot of time and A LOT of stirring. This recipe took 10 mins and no stirring and it was just... The holidays are right around the corner and I’m in gift mode! It’s time to get ahead of the game and start thinking about all the friends, family, kids, parents, teachers, etc. on my list! You know I have a real soft spot for nail polish, so I thought it would be fun to share a polish gift every Monday, “For your mistleTOES!” Because, who doesn’t love a great pun around the holidays?
Our first “MistleTOE Monday,” comes from an idea sparked by our very own Angel Smedley from Quacker Factory! After seeing a couple of my “Mani Monday” how-to... Continue Reading

Recently, we got a new pressure cooker and I'm having a lot of fun trying recipes. One of my favorites so far comes from Bob Warden. My kids LOVE it.
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped small
2 stalks celery, cut into 1/4 inch slices
2 carrots, sliced into 1/4 discs
1 tbsp minced garlic
8 ounces package cheese tortellini (I used frozen, which I'll explain below)
4 c. vegetable broth
1 jar spagetti sauce
1 can diced tomatoes (I used a 14oz can.)
1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp sugar
1/4 ts pepper
Parmesan cheese for garnish
Chop your vegg... Continue Reading

My oldest daughter has always picked easy Halloween costumes. In the past, she has just pointed to a costume in a catalog and we are done. Princess Leia, princess witch, girly vampire, princess ninja... you get the idea. Princess with a twist. However, my five year-old is never content with pre-made costumes. For the last two years, she has started planning her costume before Easter.
That may lead you to believe that we can get an early start on things. Not so. Unfortunately, she changes her mind about what she wants to be nearly every day. For a while, she... Continue Reading

I saw a version of this recipe several years ago online. Since then, I've tweaked it to include ingredients my family likes. Even if you think it sounds strange, I highly recommend you try it. No one in my family can tell the difference between the taste of real fried rice and this cauliflower dish. In fact, this is one of my family's favorite meals. I always make extra because my daughters' love taking it to school in a thermos for lunch. It makes me feel good to see both kids to eating giant bowls of vegetables.
You'll notice that in my directions, I give you estimates of what I have ... Continue Reading

I write a lot of blogs about beauty products, so you may be wondering why I'm now blogging about the Coleman lantern. Actually, I was asked to write this blog because recently during a host team meeting, I started telling everyone how much I love my lantern. I raved about it so much, someone suggested I share my positive review with you.
Two years ago, we got word that Hurricane Sandy was going to affect our area. I was at work the day before the storm hit and I was telling Sean Pickford, one of our on-air guests, that I was worried that my family would not have enough flashlights a... Continue Reading
