Handmade Holiday Cards - Have the Kids Help!

Started by Jill Bauer in Hosts & Personalities, Holiday Advice, Mom to Mom Blogs 1411161056.187

Hi, everyone! When You’re Home with Jill is on this Wednesday night, we’ll be exactly three months away from Christmas. I've always been the kind of person who likes--and tries--to plan ahead and shop early. So, if you're like me, be sure to join me at 7pm ET. In today’s technology-driven world, it’s so nice to receive a hand-written letter, isn’t it? You can almost feel the time that the person spent writing it just by holding that note in your hand. For lots of us, the only time of year when we sit down to write friends and loved ones a hand-written note is in... Continue Reading

Last Reply by water gal 1411000500.97 | Started by Jill Bauer in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

Hi, everyone! Summertime and campfires go hand-in-hand. And even into the fall, it’s so nice to cozy up to a campfire with friends and family and roast marshmallows…or, if you’re lucky, make smores! But what do you do in the winter and spring when you’re craving a warm campfire and those toasty treats? Use your oven. Smores Delight Ingredients: 1 box chocolate cake mix 1 cup milk 1 (5-oz) cook & serve chocolate pudding (not instant!) 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into tablespoon sized pats 6 whole graham crackers, broken in half 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips... Make a Rustic Centerpiece from Your Yard Waste!

Last Reply by alioop 1411078522.81 | Started by Jill Bauer in For the Home Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

Hi, everyone! That antiqued, rustic look in home décor is everywhere right now. Mason jars are the flower-vases of choice. Burlap is the new must-have fabric. It really makes entertaining seem easier and welcoming…far less intimidating than it once was. You don’t have to buy fancy silks and china to impress guests. Being together is really what’s important. I’ve embraced this trend wholeheartedly and we’ve made lots of DIY projects on You’re Home with Jill that speak to it…everything from my Fall Wreath to my Antique Metallic Vase. This Wed... Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC with Dennis Basso!!!

Last Reply by glinda 1410951546.23 | Started by Jill Bauer in Fashion Talk, Dennis Basso, Hosts & Personalities

For the past few fashion seasons, designer Dennis Basso has invited the hosts to attend his runway fashion shows in NYC. For one reason or another, I was never able to attend. But this year, my schedule was free and I decided I was going for it! The idea of being in NYC for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was thrilling to me…and I couldn’t wait to be a part of it all!   Lucky for me, Sharon Faestch was free to go too! So after meeting up, we headed over to Lincoln Center. There was a lot of activity outside of the theater as photographers, models, attendees were all milling ar... Continue Reading

Hi, everyone! I always like to share new recipes with you, but tomorrow on You’re Home with Jill we’re continuing our celebration of fall and there’s no recipe that says fall quite like my Apple Brownies. So I thought I would share this yummy dessert, which is already on my recipe page on QVC.com. What you haven't seen yet is this step-by-step video on making them. Enjoy. I’m so grateful to have this recipe…I may not have gotten to own my own bakery—yet, at least. But I can bake at home and with you on You’re Home with Jill. How lucky am I? App... Continue Reading

How-to Make an Over-the-Door School Supply Organizer

Last Reply by simpy1170 1410576090.37 | Started by Jill Bauer in For the Home Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

Hi, everyone! How is school going for your kids? Are they still having fun? My kids have another few months before the days seem to start earlier, the homework gets tougher, and the “love” really starts to fade. But the chaos has officially hit the Bauer house and their school stuff is EVERYWHERE. Luckily, I anticipated this.  And, before school began, I created a school supply organizer for the pencils, crayons, markers, and supplies. Okay, I may or may not have also wanted to feature this project on You’re Home with Jill so I had to make it before school began. Bu... Continue Reading

Hi, everyone! One of the things I love most about fall and winter is the baking. There’s nothing more welcoming than walking into a house that smells like fresh-baked cookies or cake. So as we continue to decorate our homes for the approaching autumn tomorrow night on You’re Home with Jill, I’d like to sweeten your thoughts of fall with a beautiful dessert: my Chocolate Cream Cheese Ribbon Cake. Chocolate Cream Cheese Ribbon Cake Ingredients:Cake: 1 box chocolate cake mix 4 eggs 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1 cup water 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature 2 Tbsp butter ... Continue Reading

5 Ways to Transform Your Luminara

Last Reply by bassmama 1409570192.013 | Started by Jill Bauer in For the Home Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs

Hi, everyone! Every time I create a seasonal decoration (like my Fall Wreath) I immediately think of ways to make a summer, winter, and spring version just like it. It’s like a crafter’s curse (or dream, depending on how you look at it). There are always more projects waiting in the wings!! So as I began to conceptualize our next DIY project for You’re Home with Jill, I thought, why don’t we make five crafts—one for every season, including the holidays. And why don’t we make those crafts based on the one decoration that’s never out of season: a candl... Continue Reading

Hi, everyone! I posted a special blog yesterday…did you see it? Since it’s back-to-school season, I wondered what school projects we could make with mason jars. So I asked some of our blogger friends to get creative and I was blown away by their ideas. I’ll be sharing their projects all this week on my Facebook page, I’d love for you to check them out. Can you believe Labor Day Weekend is in a few days!? It already kind of feels like “fall” in my house because the kids started school again yesterday and the house was SOOO quiet. But I still can’t be... Continue Reading

Back-to-School Mason Jars - Fun Ideas for Teachers & More!

Started by Jill Bauer in For the Home Talk, Hosts & Personalities, Mom to Mom Blogs 1409004273.507

Hi, everyone! I love mason jars. I love planting flowers in them, arranging fresh bouquets in them, turning them into centerpieces…even turning them into handmade gifts. We’ve already done lots of projects with mason jars on You’re Home with Jill like homemade munch mix, a container garden, and natural room scents. And, I’m always dreaming of new uses for these containers. Since it’s back-to-school season in my house and so many homes across the country, I wondered what school projects we could make with mason jars. So I asked some of our blogger friends to get...
