We’re organized all kinds of stuff last week…have a look!
We love our stuff…laptops, magazines, remotes. And we need our stuff. But the stuff shouldn't be part of our décor. Here's how I keep our essentials out of sight, but not out of mind. We photographed these in the living room, but I really use my Valerie Parr Hill ottomans throughout my home…in my entryway, in my kids’ rooms, and all those social areas. You can instantly clean up any space by tucking essentials inside. Or, flip the top up and use the lids f... Continue Reading

“31 Days of Organization” continues! I posted seven new tips in the last week on Facebook and QVC's toGather and wanted to be sure you saw them!
It’s Saturday afternoon and you’ve got two hours of free time. Why not make dinner for the week? Last Wednesday I posted a Cheesy Chicken & Bacon Ziti recipe in my blog that you can bake ahead and refrigerate or freeze for later. My team also got that up on my You’re Home with Jill recipe page. I’ve got quite a few freezer-friendly recipes there…Always Good Lasagna, Chicken and Broccoli ... Continue Reading

It’s FOOTBALL season in my house. How about yours? I have no doubt my husband Doug will be watching the college championship game on Monday, and then all the BIG playoff games next week. I definitely don’t mind watching a football game now and then—especially now that they’re so exciting. But I LOVE the entertaining part of the game and imagine that lots of you too.
When I was growing up, I was in the California Junior Miss Pageant, and, as one of the requirements, created a football-game-themed party. I’m SO sorry I don’t have a photo to s... Continue Reading

Raise your hand if you’re getting the Lock & Lock Today’s Special Value. I know…you can’t see me, but my hand is UP! I use Lock & Lock every single day in my kitchen to “wrap” up leftovers, store extra ingredients, and lately—freeze some meals for later. (I told you I’m getting organized!!!)
It’s true that there are some foods that just don’t freeze all that well. For example, some dairy ingredients—like heavy cream—can separate in the freezer. And crumb toppings like breadcrumbs or those crunchy n... Continue Reading

Happy new year! I’m not someone who often makes new year’s resolutions…I prefer to make goals for myself throughout the year. This year is no exception—I didn’t make a “resolution” per say, but I am craving a little order in my life after the holiday. So, I set an organization goal for the month of January: do one small project every day to make the Bauer household run a little more smoothly.
I’ve been posting these projects on my Facebook and toGather pages and thought I’d use my blog to recap those tasks. It’s not t... Continue Reading

I’m spending a few days in Puerto Rico with my family…the hustle and bustle is over and we’re getting some much-needed down time. If you’re on Facebook, you might have seen a few pictures I posted, but if not, allow me to send a little sunshine your way!
This was taken on Saturday…the sun and surf greeted us as we landed in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico!
That’s the view from our hotel. I think I could get used to this!
On Sunday, we hiked through the El Yunque rainforest and cooled off with some fresh coconut ... Continue Reading

Everyone knows you’re supposed to leave cookies out on Christmas Eve. In fact, you may have a signature cookie recipe just for Santa…I know we always bake him Snowball Cookies. But what about Santa’s reindeer? They’ve got a BIG night ahead of them and I think a snack is in order.
Here’s what’s in the bag:
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup colorful sprinkles in holiday colors
1/4 cup colored sugar sprinkles
1/4 cup tiny colorful holiday candies
And I used the following craft supplies:
1 yard ribbon
A few cellophane bags
Card stock to ... Continue Reading

If I could only have one Christmas decoration, it would be the tree. While there are certainly glamorous ways to decorate a tree, I’ve always seen the tree as a symbol of love and family and wonderful memories. Our tree tells my family’s story…and I’d like to share some of it with all of you…
So, I guess the story should start here. This is the first ornament my mom ever bought for me. She was pregnant with me at the time, and this angel hung on the tree she and my Dad had in December, 1967. I was born 4 months later…funny how the angel has dark hair... Continue Reading

Christmastime is here! We’ll be drawing near…(are you singing along??)
Since the holidays really are such a special time of year, I’d venture to say almost all of us like to don our tables with some formal dinnerware and festive decorations. And now for a centerpiece. Here’s an easy idea for all of you:
