I just finished making a few hot chocolate gift mugs! Do you remember when we featured those on You're Home with Jill back in October? (I nearly didn’t—it’s a good thing all my recipes and DIY projects are online!) That same day, we also made DIY Vanilla Extract which you can whip up this weekend, if you like. By the time Christmas Day is here, the vanilla will have released its flavor into the vodka and your lucky recipients will be so grateful for such a prized ingredient! As we near the holiday, and spend more and more money on gifts, decorations, food, and things, don&rsq... Continue Reading

A few months back we made Christmas Card Holders on You’re Home with Jill so you have a festive, dedicated space to store your Christmas cards. Yesterday afternoon, I opened the mailbox and wouldn’t you know, our very first card of the season was inside! Two things immediately came to mind: one, I have the PERFECT place to hang this! And two, I have GOT to get my cards in the mail. Yikes.
Are you the kind of person who keeps their holiday cards year-to-year? My mother ALWAYS did so she knew who to send them to and so we could repurpose those festive cards into gift ... Continue Reading

I’m SO glad you enjoyed this year's holiday videos...I specifically wanted to focus on getting the holiday table ready because food lies at the heart of the holiday and if you're like me, you want everything to be perfect.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for sharing these videos with your friends and family! To make these even more shareable, I thought we’d put all four getting-the-holiday-table-ready videos in one blog so all you have to do is copy and paste one little link. Easy!
I always close my blogs, “from my home to yours,” and these are tr... Continue Reading

Some people (and those people are probably wise) make it a point to not eat in their living room. But, that’s just not the case in my busy house. So, yesterday as I walked into the living room with a hot plate of food, I noticed white heat marks on my table—telltale signs we’ve rested one too many hot plates on top! After a little research, I found some tips on removing those marks and it WORKED! All you do is place a clean, white cloth on top of the mark, turn your iron on the steam setting, and run it over the top. Voila! White marks gone. What an easy way to make your house... Happy Thanksgiving! Some of you follow me on Facebook and already heard this story, but for those of you who aren’t on Facebook, I clearly have turkey on the brain. I was at the grocery store this morning trying to push my way through to grab what I needed. As I went to put my gallon of milk and whipping cream in my cart, I realized my purse was gone...and there were Brussels sprouts in the cart (a sign this was not my cart). I desperately looked around trying to remember what the lady next to me in the dairy case looked like so I could find her because clearly she had taken MY cart...wh... Continue Reading

Halloween marks the beginning of a season full of parties, festive decorations, and holiday-themed everything! I recently collaborated with my good friend and beloved QVC host, David Venable from In The Kitchen with David, to throw a spectacular Halloween party. We had so much fun together, and this was a great opportunity for each of us to do what we do best. He whipped up a few of his incredibly delicious recipes, and I created the ghostly atmosphere that any Halloween party should have with a few of my DIY projects. David is always so much fun to be with and he not only gave me some great p... Continue Reading

Hi, everyone! It occurred to me yesterday that even though we don’t have another YHJ coming up for awhile, I can still blog about holiday recipes and DIY ideas! After all, we’ve still got a few weeks before the holidays and I know so many of you are like me…you’re always on the prowl for fun, new, exciting things to try. So what do you think of these?!Aren’t they the cutest things you’ve ever seen? They're called Santa Hat Brownies. Can you imagine how popular they'd be at a holiday bake sale or cookie exchange? Or, if you have a cookie contest at the office... Continue Reading
