Because it’s been so long I was delighted by the changes that have taken place and had a wonderful time. I went to see longtime friends and join them for the opening of the opera, Moby Dick. My great friend, playwright Terrance McNally, was very influential in inspiring this production, so it was also a personal journey for me and special to be with him for the opening night.
In addition to seeing another opera, I was amazed at the wonderful restaurants SF has to offer. I had some terrific meals, and was tot... The first true sign of Fall for me is when the bubble goes up on my tennis club’s courts. Bubble up…Fall here!
So last weekend was the beginning of fall for me when. I played 2 games of doubles inside the bubble protecting the courts. I love that I can play all winter, rain, shine, snow, or frigid temperatures.
Out at my weekend house there are more fall signals. The geese are starting to migrate somewhere else, only to be replaced by a flock of newly arrived ducks. In the morning when the air is cool and crisp it’s fleece time again. I love to... Saturday Night Lives’ Seth Meyers, brilliantly hosted this year’s event that honors the multi-faceted talent of the fashion industry. The nominees were announced at a special meeting of the board at Diane Von Furstenberg’s and the winners were announced at the Gala. It’s a great night to be a part of!

My friend Carolina Herrera presented a wonderful collection that was as elegant and edgy as she is—full of beautiful color, print pairing, and fluid fabrics that make women look beautiful. I loved it! Then, Diane Von Furstenberg presented her “Rendezvous” collection. As one fashion editor said, it was "sophisticated, simple, and smoldering.” Diane understands a woman’s body, and her clothes and beautiful use of color and print reflect that. As president of the CFDA, Diane has proven to be ... Listening to that special song, it's easy to remember why it seems so inviting.
Autumn certainly brings the thrill of "first nighting" with NY Fashion Week, Broadway, opera and art openings…all the things I love. It's hard to top Mother Nature who invented those rich, green leaves that turn into shades of vibrant golds, reds, rusts, and wines!
And, what’s more invigorating than a crisp, cool morning? It’s pure luxury to grab a few extra minutes under the covers and slip into something comfy and cozy to start t... It’s my favorite summer holiday, filled with family, friends, and parties that celebrate our nation. I never forget how lucky I am to have my weekend beach house, and I hope that wherever you find yourself this long weekend — be it at home, at a friend's, or on the vacation you've so looked forward to — that it's relaxing and comfortable...just like my loungewear!
This should be a busy weekend! Little Red has just opened in Southampton and I love it! It’s already a hot spot and it's sure to be a "Big Red" hit. I'll be playing a lot of ... When they finally figured out what was wrong, it was pretty clear that after a lot of miles and years, it was time for new wheels. While awaiting the grim news, I strolled through the lot and sure enough, a new car spoke to me. Bottom line is I picked it up on Friday and we bonded over the weekend. My new Ipanema Sand car, while it's smaller than I’m used to, is a real beauty and I’m loving downsizing! This car's sporty, nimble, and my new good friend. And all of my friends who've been yellin... Telling a story, taking a trip, finding a solution…the list is endless.
I was getting ready to leave the Hamptons and drive back to NY when I realized that my weekend was truly a "long and short of it" kind of three days.
Played tennis twice…all doubles. First game, our fourth never showed. So, as my friend Roe is fond of saying, “long story short" or "LSS," we played Canadian doubles…or in English, two against one. And LSS, this guy did pretty well and came in second!
The opera a... Continue Reading Last Reply by Willowood 1304439976.64 | Started by Stan Herman in Fashion Talk, Hosts & PersonalitiesHello!
If you live on the East Coast, you know we’ve had more than our fair share of rain. If April showers bring May flowers, then our gardens should be glorious soon!
A big benefit of living in a city like NY is that while it’s wet, everything still goes on. This past week has been a great one for music & art. From Lady Gaga to Lady Macbeth, music really signifies the birth of spring for me. Let me know what’s on your spring playlist…always interested in learning about new artists! You know I’m an opera nut, and by week’s end I’ll have experie... Continue Reading Last Reply by rdywenur 1302326794.753 | Started by Stan Herman in Fashion TalkIt’s been a very good year.
Earlier this week, as the blizzard of the year pummeled the east coast and 60-mile-per-hour winds howled outside, I stoked the wood stove at my weekend house outfitted in my pjs & robe...men’s styles from the Stan Herman Collection, of course! I passed the day reading, listening to music, watching all the birds on my lake, recounting 2010, and looking toward the future.
Well, speaking of birds, there are so many different varieties out looking for food since the storm. They must know Stan is the “Feed the Birds Man.” Soooo...as soon as ... Continue Reading
