I firmly believe you DO NOT have to be a perfect size "whatever" or shape to be Healthy or Fit. It's all about feeling good and having the energy and flexibility to do the things you LOVE... get on the floor with your kids, take a long walk, work in the garden. We decided to make a Simple Substitution in our kids lunch boxes to introduce them to good nutritional habits--Healthy Happenings at Home. No more burgers and fries and nuggets. Instead, we go with a Bento Box approach with recognizable foods. Chicken breast strips, veggies, hummus, and fruit. &nb... Continue Reading

Wow, if we could define each generation by one electronic item, what would it be? I’m sure we could all choose a favorite; and even argue a bit as to which we item we think really hit the mark. Maybe the 1970s would be 8-Track tapes. The '80s? Big boom boxes. The '90s? A toss up here between CDs and the Sony Walkman, maybe? But hands down, this generation will forever be remembered for the tablet—and specifically the Apple iPad!!! Period. End of story.
Seriously, though, why is that? Well, we’ve become an “instant gratificatio... Continue Reading

This week on Dear Albany, we’re going to revisit several of our “p's” from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). As you might recall, there were some key categories on the tech horizon:
• Portability• Peripherals• Play things• Panels• Power• Personalization• Phones
Although March comes in like a lion, you’ve already got spring break on your mind. I’m getting lots of questions about Bluetooth speakers. In case you’re wondering, Bluetooth is simply a method of uniting ... Continue Reading

“I need some juice. Do you mind if I plug in? Do you have a spare charger? I can’t go, I’m down to one bar. My battery’s dead…AGAIN!”
How many times have you said ANY of these things? Or better yet, how often do you make statements like these?
Another key trend in consumer electronics is portable power. Makes sense…you can’t always find a 110 outlet; and if you do, do you really want to be that girl sitting on the floor at the airport hoping to catch a few minutes of charge time? Even last month, we all watched in h... Continue Reading

In my quest to make simple substitutions on my family’s Wellness Journey, I thought I’d share an unexpected love affair.
It took me YEARS to bite the bullet and get a Vitamix. I wondered if I would really use it… and how often. I wondered if it worked as well as the demonstrations. I wondered what on earth, beyond smoothies I would use it for.
Well I’m here to share that I’ve fallen in love with my Vitamix. I use it so often that I just leave it on the counter. No sense putting it in the pantry since I pull it out almost every day. I’m all about planning ... Continue Reading

I love Big, Beefy, Boys....and even more if they're Bald :~) You may have heard me loving refer to my husband as a "Sasquatch" or "Big Boy." Those have become terms of endearment around my house as my husband is a little over 6'5". (His dad was 6'9") Needless to say we have to "super size" everything around the house. This was NOT something I gave much attention to when we were dating. Back then, I was more concerned with whether or not my 5'8" frame could wear 4" heels on date night and still be shorter than my man.
All these years later, I have discovered that ... Continue Reading
