Started by David Venable in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities 1432308995.323

Memorial Day always seems to sneak up on me…but it’s a pleasant surprise because it means summer—as we know it, anyway--has arrived. I'm always proud to be an American, but it means even more at this time of year, doesn't it? I read an article this morning on a local news site that warmed my heart. In Long Beach Island, New Jersey, a beautiful beach-town not far from Philadelphia, students from the community high school in Manahawkin put 6,847 American flags into the ground at a local park in honor of the U.S. servicemen and women who were killed in Afghanistan or Iraq. Raspberry-Lemonade Daiquiris! What's Your Signature Summertime Drink?

Last Reply by hoofty 1432172003.953 | Started by David Venable in Kitchen & Food Talk, Hosts & Personalities

Hello, foodies… When I entertain in the summertime, I always make a signature drink part of my menu. It’s easier than buying an array of beverages and they’re often bright and colorful, which looks nice on your table. The Vitamix is perfect for mixing up frozen drinks like piña coladas or daiquiris and I always make sure to add fresh fruit to the mixture so it tastes fresh. When I do margaritas, I add whole lemons and limes. Fresh strawberries, raspberries, or even blueberries go into my daiquiris. If I’m making a regular drink, I usually have two batches in be... Hello, foodies… I just put my mom’s Mother’s Day card in the mail and was thinking about all the cards and flowers I’ve sent to my mom over the years. Then I remembered the time I made my mom breakfast. I was about 12. It was a Sunday morning, I woke up very, very early, and I remember creeping downstairs…I was trying to be so quiet so I didn’t wake her. Luckily, I had already been helping mom in the kitchen so I knew how to make bacon and eggs. So I made bacon, eggs, and I also prepared half a grapefruit for her. For as long as I can remember, my mother... Continue Reading
