My Time with Mary Beth

Hi Everyone,

It's been a busy week or so at our house with school getting out and Father's Day. What school getting out means at our house is that my kids' friends are here about 10am instead of 4pm after school. The other day, on my day off, I realized it was lunch time, and there were about 7 boys in the house. I thought, "What am I going to feed all these growing boys and do I have enough?" That's when you quick look in the refrigerator or freezer hoping something jumps out at you and says, "take me!"

So that's what I did, and out jumped the cheese in the fridge and the bread in the freezer...grilled cheese sandwiches! It went over big...that and a little ketchup! They all sit around the kitchen island looking at me with those big puppy dog eyes wondering what I'm going to offer those constantly growing bodies and hollow legs, and they seemed pretty happy, at least for an hour or so. Then I hear, "where's the snacks?" Anyway, after I get this blog written, I'm off to the grocery store, where I could be spending a great deal of time this summer!

For Father's Day, we took Mark out for dinner Saturday evening after I got off the air, because Mark was very fortunate to be able to get invited to the US Open Golf Tournament in New York for Sunday. He was hesitant to go at first, knowing he would be gone all day on Father's Day, but I wanted him to go, because it's been a dream of his for a long time! He had a wonderful time, and we were all happy for him that he had that kind of opportunity this year!

On Sunday morning at church, they brought a few little kids up on the platform and interviewed them about their Dads. This one little girl, as sweet as can be, was asked what made her Dad so great? She thought, and then answered, "my Mom!" The whole congregation roared with laughter!

Well, you know what they say...out of the mouths of babes! This week on My Time with Mary Beth, we will be talking about Time for Kids. Joan Lunden will be joining me for one product that is very important for our children's safety. Even if you are a grandparent, you should see it. We will also be talking about Time to Take Care of Yourself, which will include one brand new item and one that is new this month. Then we will have Time for Tech, with our Today's Special Value and another item that I use and recommend. Sometimes the word 'tech' scares me, because I just assume it's over my head or I can't understand it, but I'm figuring out that it's not true. A lot of technical items are very easy to understand, and they really can make life easier. So come join me and we'll learn about them together!

By the way next week on Wednesday, my show is being preempted by another show Steel By Design Jewelry but then I will be back on July 8th with My Time with Mary Beth. Have a terrific week!

Blessings to you,

Hello, Everyone! Thanks for reading my blog this week. I'm looking forward to the My Time with Mary Beth show this Wednesday, June 17th, at 9am, where we will be talking about Time for Beauty, Time to Organize, and Time to Do It Yourself...three great categories at QVC!

In Time for Beauty, there's an item that is brand new, and it's a version of something else that I love to use, and my husband loves to use it, too. Do you wonder what that could be? Make sure you watch and I'll show you.

In Time to Organize, there is something we can all use in one room or another. I've just spent the last few weeks overhauling my entire closet, which you can imagine is very cluttered and overrun with too many clothes and too many shoes, etc. that I have collected over the last 20+ years of being in TV. Obviously, I've gotten rid of things along the way in that time, but it still needed a complete overhaul, because I couldn't find things when I wanted them, and I had way too many things that were out of style and needed to be donated. It took time and effort, but, Wow, does it feel great to go in there now and try to find my outfits for each day on the air! I recommend doing that every few years...don't wait twenty years like I did!

In Time to Do It Yourself, we have an item that I used to mend a chair in our family room that had been torn by our dog, Champ. He was trying to make a bed for himself, so with his nails, he tore the fabric right on my favorite easy chair! I wasn't too pleased with him, but the product we will show you is what I used to mend the chair, and we still have the chair, two years later! Needless to say, Champ is no longer allowed on the chair!

I hope you are having a terrific week, and I will see you Wednesday morning at 9am eastern!

Blessings to you,

Mary Beth Roe

Hi, Everyone,

Thanks for reading my blog this week! Hopefully, you are enjoying it every week. This week is exciting at our house, because it is Cory's 18th birthday! Cory is our second child. I can hardly believe that he is already 18! I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. It was about 3 weeks before my due date, and I went to church that morning feeling fine. We came home from church, made lunch, ate lunch, and I got up from the kitchen table to take the dishes to the sink, and I felt a 'ping-ping'. I had no idea what that was, but then my water broke. He's the only baby of all my kids where my water broke at home. I had not had one contraction prior to that moment.

I ran to the bathroom and hollered for Mark and told him we needed to get Eric to a neighbor's house so we could go to the hospital before too long. Just then, the doorbell rang. It was some high school kid selling raffle tickets. Mark went to the door, eyes as big as silver dollars, and told the kid, "I can't right now, my wife's having a baby!" That kid proceeded to run to the neighbor's house and tell them that some woman was having a baby in the house next door! Of course, the neighbor's came running, only to find out that I wasn't actually giving birth at that moment but trying to get ready to leave.

Anyway, everything worked out just fine. We got Eric to a neighbor's house, and we left for the hospital. As we drove out of the neighborhood, the word had already gotten around to pretty much everyone, and they were all standing outside their houses waving goodbye to us! I was so embarrassed! A few hours later, Cory was born.

Now he's finishing his junior year of high school and loves music! Remember he is the one who wrote, produced and recorded the music that we use every week for my show. So next time you hear it, you'll know that Cory did that. He's hoping to go to college for audio engineering and business to work in the music industry someday.

Well, speaking of My time with Mary Beth , every Wednesday at 9am, this week we will be focusing on Time to Take Care of Yourself, Time in the Kitchen and Time for Summer. We have some great products, and a really good cookbook. Don't forget that Marie Osmond will be back finally, and she and I will be together next Monday, June 15th, at 4pm eastern. I can't wait to see her...it's been so long, and I know the dolls she is bringing are terrific!

Have a terrific week, and I'll see you Wednesday morning!

Blessings on you,

Hello, Everyone! Can you believe it's already the first week of June? Unbelievable! Where has the year gone?

One of the things I have tried to do this year is take myself out of my comfort zone and try some new things...just push myself a little bit. One of those things was to do this show, My Time with Mary Beth, as well as learn more about electronics and crafts and do it yourself types of products. This show has made me do that, and it's been so fun to learn new things.

My son, Ryan, in seventh grade, also decided a few weeks ago to push himself outside of his comfort zone and run for treasurer of the student council for next year. He had to 'campaign' and make signs and nametags that the kids could wear that said, "Go for Roe", etc. Ryan is a shy, more quiet kid who makes friends easily but is not the life of the party or Mr. Popular. So this was totally new for him, but he went for it and worked hard. He had to write a speech and give it for the whole seventh grade, which was probably the first speech he ever had to do. Anyway, last Friday, the class voted and he got the job of treasurer! We were so proud of him, so when we took the family out to dinner that night to celebrate, we told him he had to pay for dinner since the 'treasurer' always has the money! We had a great time, and it was one of those joyous moments in a parents' life that makes us all grin from ear to ear! I'm sure all of you moms and grandmas can relate!

Well, here's what the show will include this Wednesday at 9am...Time for Wellness with something for all ages, Time to Do It Yourself with products to help make your home look better, and Time to Organize, which is what I am still totally immersed in within my home this spring. It should be a great show, so I hope you can join me! I love to know you are there and watching! Have a terrific week!

Blessings to you,

Hi, Everyone!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! It was one of the first nice Memorial Day weekends we've had weather-wise in several years. I worked Sat. and Sun., so I had Monday off, and we had a wonderful family day. We took the kids to a park and had a picnic lunch. This was one of the first times in a long time that we had done that, because we used to do it alot when the kids were little, but now that they are all teenagers except for Elizabeth, the frequency of going to the park is rare. But we had a blast. There was hardly anyone there, and we took along a frisbee, a football and a sky ball(that's a ball that goes high in the sky when you bounce it). All six of us stood in a big circle in an open field of grass and tossed these things around and laughed until we were sick. Mostly they laughed at me, because I have never had good hand/eye coordination. I couldn't catch anything to save my soul! Of course, Mark and the kids are all good in sports, but not me! I keep telling my kids it's because they didn't have girls' sports when I was growing up! In my small town, they didn't, or that's my excuse anyway.

Later on at dinnertime, we ate out on the deck for the first time this year, so Elizabeth was very happy! She loves to eat outdoors...actually she just plain loves the outdoors! It was beautiful weather, but it was even more beautiful to spend a day relaxing as a family! With all the activities always honing in on family time, this was a blessed day!

But now it's back to school and work, so let me tell you what's coming up this week on the show. We will be talking about Time To Take Care of Yourself with two great items in this category. Then we move into Time to Make Life Easier with one of my new favorite items from QVC. It's something I bought for my closet, so I will tell you about it on Wed. morning.

Then we will talk about Time for Entertaining. We love to entertain in the summertime...to have friends over for dinner and relax on the deck. Or perhaps you are the one who gets invited to friends' homes for dinner. Either way, it will be good things for the summertime entertaining!

Have a great week, and I will hope to see you this Wednesday morning at 9am for My Time with Mary Beth!

Hi, Everyone! I hope you have all had a great week! My husband's been out of town on a golf trip with some men from our church, so my sister-in-law and niece came to stay with me for the week. I took both of them on the tour of QVC over the weekend, and I have to say that it had been a long time since I had taken the tour, and afterwards, I realized once again how proud I am to work for such a great company! I am so proud of all that QVC has done over the past 22 years, both in the way the product quality and assortment has evolved over the years as well as how committed this company is to customer service! I hope that if you haven't taken the tour lately or ever that you will consider doing that sometime when you are in the area!

This week we will be talking about Time to Do It Yourself. I'm not a 'handyman' kind of girl...that's why I married a handy man! However, my handy man is busy most of the time, so I get tired of waiting around for him to find time to do the 'honeydo' list. I just asked him a few weeks ago if I could hire him for a day to do the things I need him to do. He smiled at me and said, "What are you paying?" I laughed and said, "Not much." Anyway, we will have products where it will be easier to do it yourself and not have to wait for your honey to find time to help you. I'm all for good ideas like that!

We will also have Time for Memories. When it comes to family, it's all about memories. Even when it comes to history, it's all about memories. Make sure you watch for this segment.

We will also have Time for Beauty, with one of my favorite guests joining me! She's Norwegian like me, and I've always wanted to grow up to be like her! Can you guess who it is? Here's a hint: She always smells good!

Thank you for watching My Time with Mary Beth each Wednesday morning at 9am eastern! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Blessings to you,

Hi, Everyone! I hope all of you who are moms had a wonderful Mother's Day! I sure did. I had an excellent day with Mark and all the kids. Eric was home from college for the weekend. His junior year of college just ended, but he's going back to Washington, DC to take some summer classes and get ready to take the LSAT, which is the law test you take before applying to law schools. He's hoping to go to law school after he graduates from college next year. I always knew he would make a good lawyer, because he used to argue with me until I didn't remember what we were arguing about! He used to be a debater in high school, so it's right up his alley!

The weekend was also special, because Cory went to his first prom! He's a junior in high school, and he really hasn't even dated at all, so it was his first date! Of course, I cried when I saw him all dressed up in his tuxedo, and then I followed him to his date's house (with his permission) to take pictures before they went off to the school for prom. It's exciting to see our kids grow up, but it's also bittersweet, because I think "where did my little boy go?" I feel like he changed from a boy to a man over the last year, and you wonder where has the time gone? But he had a great time...I stayed home and prayed, and he actually was home by l0:30pm! That made me sleep better that night!

My kids were all so sweet on Mother's Day and wrote such nice things in their cards that it makes all the stress and hard work worth it that comes with having children. The joys outweigh the work! Mark was also very sweet in giving me my favorite flower, roses. He's always been a 'flower giver' throughout our marriage...it can't hurt! Anyway, I hope your day was wonderful, too, in whatever way your family remembered you.

Speaking of children, this Wednesday morning in My Time with Mary Beth, we will be talking about Time for Spring Cleaning with a couple of great ideas. We will also be talking about Time for Summer. Is it getting hot in your part of the country? We've had a couple of 'heat waves' come through Philly in the last month followed by cold spells, so the weather has been up and down, but I have a great fan to show you to cool you off!

Then we will talk about Time for Wellness, which will include our Today's Special Value. It will be from the "Biggest Loser", so if you watch that show, this will interest you as well as those of you who have never seen the show.

So I hope you have you watching with me Wednesday morning at 9am, and have a terrific week!

Blessings to you,

Hello Everyone,
I hope you have had a great week! I've been on an organizing kick at home lately...it's a BIG project. I'm pitching and tossing and trying to weed out what we don't use or need, and try to find a place for everything and put everything in its place rather than shuffle everything from room to room! I think it's going to be an on-going project for at least the next couple of months.

Our first segment this week will have some good ideas for Time to Organize. I'm always open to new ideas on this subject, so I hope you will be, too!

Our next segment is talking about Time to Take Care of Yourself. We have some great ideas especially when it comes to getting through the summertime.

Then we will talk about Time for Bed! We have a great Today's Special Value that will make your bed much more comfortable, and that sounds good to me. The older I get the more I need comfort in my bed! Maybe you can relate.

Thanks so much for reading my blog each week. Please let me know what your suggestions are as we go along, but I love knowing that many of you have set aside that one hour a week to join me from 9am-l0am every Wednesday morning to just have some girl time to relax. Have a terrific week!

Blessings to you,
Mary Beth

Hi, Everyone! Thank you for joining me for my show, My Time with Mary Beth, each Wednesday at 9am! Last week was Earth Day, so hopefully you enjoyed seeing the products that were all natural and good for the environment. The TSV ligth bulbs were a huge hit, so hopefully, we helped 'light up your life'! That shows my era, doesn't it. That was one of my favorite songs from Debbie Boon!

Life has been very busy lately, with working, kids' sports, training Amy Stran, our newest host, etc. So my bed becomes a true place of rejuvenation each night! That's why we have a segment this week called Time for Bed! You know how our kids hate being told that it's time for bed...I just wish someone would tell me to go to bed! Funny how it changes from childhood to adulthood! Well, we'll help you make that bed of yours a more comfortable and restful place to be. I'm all for that!

We will also have a segment entitled Time to Make Life Easier. I'm all for that, too! Life is hard sometimes, especially at this point in my life. Everyone tells me it gets a little easier after the kids are grown! Yet, I need to enjoy every moment I have with them at home, because the time goes by so fast! So you'll have to watch to see what we have for you to make your life and chores a little easier.

Then we will also talk about Time to Garden! We've had a lot of gardening shows on for the past 2 months, but now the actual bulbs and plants are starting to arrive. We ordered some roses, some calla lilies, and a mandarin orange tree ...something new and different to try. The first two have arrived, so now it's time to plant. We'll give you some good tips and ideas for you, so tune in to see.

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you Wednesday morning at 9am eastern!

Blessings to you,

Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the My Time with Mary Beth show last Wednesday, when every item had free shipping and handling! That's always a nice surprise! It was also a fun day for me, because my husband, Mark, and I got to get away for about 24 hours to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary.

We went up to the Pocono Mountains in northern Pennsylvania and relaxed for a short period of time. Since I was working Wed. morning and Friday, the time went by quickly, but to even get away from Wed. afternoon until Thursday evening was great. When you have four kids and a full-time job, it's so nice to have 'quiet time' and time to have a conversation with your husband uninterrupted! Just to go out for dinner and not be interrupted or rushed is such a nice difference from everyday life!

I always like to recommend to my married friends who have kids at home to take at least one-two-three days and get away, just the two of you, or take a week if possible. It's so good for the marriage, and it's good for the kids to see the commitment you have to your marriage as well. The kids always seem to survive it, too!

This Wednesday’s show on at 9am ET will be all about Earth Day. We will have great products that you can reuse and recycle. Our today's special value can save you quite a bit of money in the long run, too. I hope you will join us for the show!

Also, during the show, if you ever have something you would like to share with all of America concerning the products we show or have a question, don't hesitate to use the 'Ask Us Live' button on qvc.com, which we can then answer 'live' on the air. Since we can't possibly take everyone's phone call that wants to talk on the air, it's a great way to answer questions or share important information from our viewers, who I appreciate greatly!

Have a fantastic week, and write back to me on this blog. I love to hear what you think!

Blessings to you,

Hi, Everyone! Happy tax week...or not! Actually, QVC is going to try to make you happy on tax day by giving you free shipping and handling on everything seen on air that day, which includes my show, My Time with Mary Beth at 9am! Yeah! So we're going to have some fun!

Before I tell you what's in the show, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter/Passover with your family. We sure did! It was so nice having Eric home from college, and he brought a friend with him who couldn't get home to Detroit over the weekend. The music and sermon at church that morning was so inspiring, and then while I made our big lunch at home, Mark hid the Easter eggs (plastic with candy inside) in six rooms of our home for the kids to find while I was cooking. It was my four kids, Eric's friend, and another young boy living with us for awhile named Chance. Mark's a good hider, because he had all the kids stumped for awhile in each of their rooms. It was a fun time, and then lucky for me, lunch turned out pretty good, too! Ham and turkey and a few sides filled them up! Also, lucky for me, the kids all played together for awhile after the dishes were done, and I got to go lay down for a little while and rest! That makes for a great day!

Speaking of rest, our first segment on Wednesday will be Spa Time. We'll be talking about massages for a bit, and also my favorite bath towels from QVC will be on the show! I'm so excited, because I REALLY love these towels!! They are so thick and yummy that I try to take these towels before Mark can take it!

Next we will have Time for Bed! See, I told you it's a good show! We will have something luxurious from Amadeus and something else we use at our house quite often with all the kids that come and go from our place...and sleep overnight!

Lastly, we will talk about Time for Beauty. I'm anxious for you to see our Today's Special Value from l00% Pure Cosmetics. They have never had a TSV before, and they really have great product that is all natural. It's a great concept, and I use several of their products often.

By the way, if you like dogs, make sure you see the mug for this week, too.

Have a terrific week, and thanks for reading my blog and watching the show every Wednesday morning at 9am.

Blessings to you,
Mary Beth

Well, did you like my April Fool's joke last Wednesday? Did I really fool you with the dark-haired wig? I actually fooled my Mom and Dad! My mom told me that for the first 1-2 minutes, she was very upset, thinking I really had dyed my hair black for a change. But then they had a good hearty laugh once they saw I was still a blonde. I look alot like my Mom, which is probably why she was upset that I didn't look like her anymore with the wig on! If you missed it, I'm sorry, but it was pretty funny.

What a busy week this is for our family! The kids are off from school, so Mark is doing alot to keep them occupied, driving them here and there while I work, but I am so looking forward to having all of my children home for the Easter weekend, especially Eric, who has been away at college since January. We'll all be together again for a few days, and that is always so joyful for me! I will be making ham and turkey, because all of us like ham except Eric, so I make a small turkey breast for him and anyone else who wants both. We go to church first, then a nice big dinner(at lunchtime), and then an Easter egg hunt.

Mark and I hide candy (in the plastic eggs) in four different rooms of our house, and each child gets to claim a room and the candy in it. I usually hide the pieces for the two youngest, and Mark hides the candy for the two oldest (because they are taller and smarter)! Yes, Eric, at 21, still wants to be a part of that. I told them they can hunt for eggs until they are married! That will probably be a long time from now, I hope! I hope you all have an excellent family time during this Easter/Passover season!

This Wednesday morning, April 8th, we will be taking Time in the Kitchen with one of my favorite guests, Mark Charles Misilli. He's always bringing great products to QVC, and he's fun to work with. If you want to do a little more cooking in your microwave, he has the perfect product to help you.

This is also a great time of year to take Time to Do It Yourself. We have items prepared that the women can do themselves rather than waiting for someone else to do it for us. Little touches to our homes that make them more practical as well as more beautiful for very little money and not alot of effort is always on my good list!

We will wrap up the show with Time for Summer, bringing you something that you need right now, and a Today's Special Value that will dress you up a bit no matter what your age! Watch and find out what it is!

By the way, next week's show is taking place on tax day, April 15th, so we will have some really special things happening that day to make you smile, and then on April 22nd, it is Earth Day, with some great ideas for doing things that will help make your environment around you, right where you live.

Have a wonderful week, and blessings to all of you!

I'm really looking forward to this week's show ! There will be alot going on and some nice little surprises along the way, so make sure you watch! I will be introducing you to the newest host on our staff, and she's a real sweetheart, so I'm anxious for you all to see her!

We will be talking about Time to Take Care of Yourself. I have to be honest and say that I did a much better job of this in January and February. Mark and I joined a gym, and I was doing pretty well about exercising at least a couple of times a week (that's a lot for me). However, March has been a very busy month, so I have not done well at all with my exercising. I've still tried to watch what I am eating and trying to eat pretty healthy, but the time to exercise is so hard to find. But we have a great item this week that may help me to get back into it!

Ever since we started this show in January, I've been wanting to have a segment entitled Time to Collect, because I've been a collector of different things for many years...dolls, bears, figurines, cups and saucers, etc. Well, we finally have that segment this week, and some of my favorite people in the collectible world will be joining us via the phone. Maybe it will inspire you to begin collecting if you don't already do so!

We will also have a segment called Time to Accessorize, which will include our TSV for Wed...a pair of sandals from Clarks! Clarks are sooo comfortable, and I hope you will at least take a peek at them! Also, included in the show will be a great summer bag that may just be what you are looking for!

Don't be late...it starts at 9am eastern, and you won't want to miss a minute! Thanks again for taking the time to read my blog, too.

Blessings to all,

Mary Beth

I'm so excited for this week's show! Some of my favorite products are in it. We will have a segment entitled Time for Beauty, which will have our friend, Mally, in it. Not only is she an excellent makeup artist and works on some of the most famous faces, she has a heart of gold and a personality that you want to love as soon as you meet her! We will be focusing on eyes, which everyone has told me my whole life that "it's all about your eyes, Mary Beth!" I inherited big eyes from my Dad, so I've heard alot about my eyes for years. Well, one of my favorite secret weapons that I use on my eyes will be in the show! Don't miss it!

Another segment will be Time to Organize. I am currently switching out my closet from fall/winter to spring/summer. I do this twice a year. We have a storage area in our basement that I move the out of season clothes to. It makes it so much easier for me to choose my clothes for work this way, but it's a project. One thing I also do as I make the switch out is go through everything to see what I no longer need or wear. This is the time to give it to charity, so that it's not taking up space if I'm not going to wear it anyway. Some of the things I was setting aside yesterday I've had for l0 years! In all honesty, it's hard for me to part with alot of it. They are like old friends. But if I want to get a few new pieces for this season, I need to get rid of some, too. When it's all said and done, it's rather therapeutic for me. It feels like a fresh beginning twice a year, so I recommend it. I even organized my shoes, and that's alot of work, but worth it!! I'll have something Wed. morning to help you with that.

The last segment will be Time in the Kitchen...story of my life! Do you ever feel like 95% of your life is spent in the kitchen? That's why it's so important to love your kitchen when you buy or build a house...because you spend so much time there! Our kitchen is the hub of existence. The kids hang out there when they are not doing much. They are always looking for something to eat. They do their homework there. It's the gathering place for the family, and I love that! Again we'll have two of my favorite things for your kitchen in the show. They are inexpensive but sooo helpful!

By the way, looking ahead we will have some 'collectibles' on the April 1st show. I can't wait! Have a terrific week, and I'll see you this Wednesday at 9am eastern!

Blessings to you,

Mary Beth

Hi, Everyone!
Thanks again for reading my blog each week. I'm so excited about this show on Wed., March 18th, because every item is new to QVC and every item will be specially priced! This is the first time we are doing that on my show!

Also, I have a very special guest joining me...Joan Lunden. As part of our Internation Women's Celebration month, we are celebrating women entrepeneurs, and Joan has developed a product that will give Moms and Dads peace of mind. We will include her new item in our segment entitled Time for Safety, and who doesn't want our loved ones to be safe!

We will also have a segment called Time for Family. I come from a very close knit family of six children plus my Mom and Dad, and now I have my own family of four kids with Mark, so family has always been very important to me. I've known ever since we started this show in January that I wanted to highlight things for the family, but this will be our first time to actually have that opportunity!

We will also have a segment called Time for Spring Cleaning. We've had alot of response to our show about wanting more spring cleaning segments, and since I feel like that is my focus this spring, too, I'm looking forward to bringing you some new products in this category on Wednesday.

I hope you can join me on Wednesday morning, so just get your cup of coffee or tea and sit back and relax for this one hour and spend a little Time with MB! Have a terrific week, and many blessings to you!
