My Time with Mary Beth

Hello, Everyone,

Well, this week in the My Time with Mary Beth show we are down to "4 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas!" We have a lot of great decorating ideas for you this week, but I also have a wonderful gift for the kids as well as a melodious item from Mr. Christmas. Have any of you ever heard a bell choir where the musicians play these brass bells of all different sizes? It's one of the most wonderful things you can hear if you ever get a chance. We'll give you a little taste of what that sounds like on Wednesday morning at 9am!

If your life is like mine lately, it seems like each day passes very quickly, and I am never quite able to get done what I want to get done in each day. However, I still try to just stop and savor at least a few moments of each day, whether it be with the kids or my husband or talking to a friend at work. It may literally be for only a few minutes amongst the busyness, but it helps me keep from having an entire season go by and leave me with thoughts that I can't remember the 'good times'. I hope you can do the same thing, and take an hour on Wednesday mornings, sit and relax with a cup of coffee or tea and spend a few moments with me while taking care of a few of the things on your 'to do' list for the holidays!

Blessings to you,

Hello, Everyone!

This week on My Time with Mary Beth we will be down to "5 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas"!!! Can you believe it? It's the perfect time to be shopping for the gifts you want to give to those who mean alot to you. We will have lots of great gifts to choose from, some of which are perfect for cold weather climates.

We've been fortunate that we've been blessed with some very warm days here and there in PA, which gives us the feel of a little Indian Summer! I'll take it, too, because it feels so good to feel that warm sun to brighten our spirits! However, it's been very cold at night, so it reminds us that winter is just around the corner. The only reason I like cold, crisp air is because I love warm fuzzy socks and fleece sweatshirts and big cozy robes and fires in the fireplace and hot chocolate or hot apple cider! Do I sound like a northerner?

Come join us and grab your cup of hot 'whatever you like' drink and do some shopping with me this Wednesday morning at 9am! I'd love to have you join me! Have a terrific week!
Blessings to you,

Hello, Everyone!

We are now in November, so this week in My Time with Mary Beth, we are going to be bringing you TWO hours of great gift ideas! Before the show at 9am on Wednesday, make your list of who you need to buy for if you haven't done it already. It will make it easier for you to see who you need to buy for that you haven't already.

I just did that the other day, and I have between 60-70 people! Big families, several people at work, close friends, teachers, it all adds up. Certainly, there are people you spend a bit more on, but for the others, I'm always looking for a great gift that I get at a great price that looks more expensive than what I spent. Do you know what I mean? Well, I'm happy to say we have several great items like that at QVC this holiday season, so shop away!

I hope you all had a great Halloween. In PA, it was rainy but warm. My two youngest kids dressed as glowworms where they took glow sticks and safety pins and pinned the glow sticks all over a large t-shirt and wore that. The best thing is that they could be seen about two-three blocks away, so I couldn't lose them! They were lighting the path for all the other kids! I hope all your little loved ones were safe, too, and that they shared their candy with you!

Have a terrific week, and I'll share Wednesday morning with you!

Blessings to you,

Hello, Everyone!

First of all, thank you so much for all the responses and emails of well-wishes on the passing of my mother-in-law. You have touched my heart so much, and I have felt so loved by those of you who wrote, so thank you so much for that! It means more to me than you could even imagine!

We've been counting down the shopping weeks 'til Christmas, and this week we are down to 7 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas! It's hard to believe how fast it is going! Outside, it's cold, rainy, and windy, and all those beautiful colored leaves from the trees are falling in buckets. It reminds me that when the weather turns blustery outside, it's even more important that our homes are warm and inviting inside, both for our family and our friends!

This week on My Time with Mary Beth, we have a holiday theme going, and we will start out with Time for Holiday Helpers...things that are practical and necessary. We will also talk about Time to Deck the Halls with some great decorating items for you. It's always nice to have the traditional decorations we bring down from the attic each year, but it's always nice to have a couple of new things that make it feel a bit more special each year! We will finish out the hour with a great gift of our Today's Special Value.

We are working hard to bring you some special things each and every week for the show on Wednesdays at 9am, so I hope you will tune in to see what we have for you! This week is Halloween, so make sure your kids are lit up or at least have a flashlight with them, walk door to door with them, check their candy before they eat it when you get home, and don't forget to take pictures of them, because they will be keepsakes forever! Have a terrific week!

Blessings to you,

Hello Everyone,

For the last few weeks, I've been going at a full tilt working alot as well as doing some training with newer hosts, and I'd have to say that life was going by faster than normal. It's interesting that sometimes when life seems like it's out of control, something happens to stop us in our tracks and makes us rethink our priorities. Well, that happened last weekend.

On Saturday, Oct. 3rd, my mother-in-law passed away very suddenly, which put us all in a state of shock. Over the next 48 hours, we rearranged all the activities already scheduled for the next week between work, kids, church, etc., and made a quick trip back to MN for the services. It was a tough week, but God was very good in so many ways. It was a blessing to reconnect with family and extended family over the past week. My mother-in-law was an excellent crafter, doing needlepoint, sewing, crocheting, quilting, you name it, she did it if it was in the crafting family. She also was an excellent baker of breads and cookies, and she made the best beet pickles and dill pickles and jams that anyone could imagine. She taught me alot over the last 27 years that I've known her, but the most important thing I learned from her is how to be a great mother-in-law to the spouses of my children someday! She was the antithesis of all the mother-in-law jokes you hear! She was kind and accepting of me into her family and loving and encouraging and never interferring. She raised seven children, one of which is an amazing young man who has been my husband of 26 years! We were so proud of her and she was dearly loved by many!

So now we are back in PA and back to work and life moves on, a little bit weary yet ready to get the family schedule back to normal, but with renewed priorities as to what's really important in life. In an effort to move on, I want to let you know that this week in My Time with Mary Beth, we will be talking about Time to Take Care of Yourself with some items that I am passionate about. Also, I'm looking forward to spending time with you talking about Time to Decorate for the holidays and Time for Treats that are special for the upcoming holidays. I'm all for eating! We are still counting down to the holidays, so this week it is "9 shopping weeks 'til Christmas"!!!! Wow, it doesn't sound very far away. Don't worry...we're here to help get you ready!

Thanks for being patient with the show, since I wasn't here last week, but hopefully, I won't miss any more shows this year. I'll keep the blog updated each week, so keep reading and responding! I love reading what you have to say, too! Have a terrific week!

Blessings to all,

Hello Everyone!

Well, we kicked off our "12 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas" segment last Wednesday at 9am, so the countdown begins! This week we will have "11 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas", and we will be giving you two great gift ideas. It's definitely not too early to start thinking about the gifts we want to give, so make your list of who you have to buy for before Wednesday morning if you can, so you know who you have to think about.

We will also be talking about Time for Fall Cleaning with two very good items. I find I can get more fall cleaning done than I can spring cleaning, because when the kids go back to school, that allows me to get in their rooms without them breathing down my neck and watching what I decide to pitch and toss, and I can get under their beds and see what's being created under there, etc. It's also the time of year I like to try and clean out closets and drawers that have been junk collectors all spring and summer.

We will also be spending some Time in the Kitchen. It will include our Today's Special Value and something from Temptations that would be a great addition to any kitchen. I love working with Tara McConnell! Don't you just love her?! She is kind and considerate and very smart, and I love the things she designs for the kitchen from Temptations. Come and check it out with me! I'll see you Wednesday morning at 9am!

Blessings to you,

Hello Everyone,

This will be a big week for the My Time with Mary Beth show, because we kickoff our countdown of "12 Shopping Weeks 'til Christmas"! For the first two weeks, we will dedicate one segment to getting ready for the holidays. Once we get into October, we will dedicate two segments each week to getting ready for the holidays, and when we get into November and December, all three segments each week will be all about getting you ready for the holidays. We will help you with your decorating, your cleaning, your gift shopping, your food preparation, etc. I think it will be so much fun, and I, too, will realize how close the holidays will be as we go week to week. ,

Every year I feel like the holidays sneak up on me, and I don't like surprises, so maybe this will even help me to be more organized about the holidays for the first year of my life!! We'll work on it together, okay?

We will also have a segment this week called Time to Organize with a couple of great items. We will then talk about Time for Beauty, bringing you a couple of items I've never presented before but am anxious to learn about. If you've missed a few My Time with Mary Beth shows in the past month or so, make sure to join me this week,9am on Wednesday, and take one hour of your week to sit down, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with me, and we'll smile together! ,

In fact, I'm off right now to have tea with the ladies in my neighborhood. I rarely get to do this, and it's good to take an hour to connect with other women, to share ideas, to laugh and talk and remember there's other women just like us going through similar things at home and at work who can relate to whatever we are doing in our lives. I hope you get the chance to do something similar once in awhile, whether it's women from the neighborhood or from church or friends from your community. I'm a big believer in 'women helping women', and here's a great place to start! ,

Have a terrific week! ,

Blessings to you, ,

Hello, Everyone!
It's been two weeks since the My Time with Mary Beth show, since we had the Irish Rose of Tralee celebration last Wednesday, but for the rest of the year, there shouldn't be any interruptions with the show being every Wednesday morning at 9am. Yeah!!

The kids are all back to school now, so it's nice to be more on a routine schedule each day, but it also means helping with homework each day after school. Now that the kids are getting older, it just makes me feel like I know less and less! With the increase of using electronics to do homework, namely the computer, and the higher levels of math and science, I feel like they are passing me by more each year! Oh well, I can still teach the basics of life, like moral values, how to cook, clean, fold laundry, use manners, all the really important things, right?!

Speaking of cleaning, this week on the show we will be talking about Time to Clean, Time to Do It Yourself, and Time to Take Care of Yourself. We have some great products to show you in these categories, so I hope you don't miss the show!

Next week,Sept. 23, we kick off our "12 Weeks 'til Christmas" theme where at least one segment of the hour will be bringing you products that will help you get ready for the holidays. We will count the weeks down, so you know how many weeks until Christmas, and we're bringing in some really great products from decorating for the holidays, to cleaning our homes to get ready, to the baking we need to do to feed the hungry relatives, to gifts to give to those we love, etc. It's going to be GREAT!

Thanks for checking out my blog each week, and I'll see you Wednesday mornings!

Blessings to you,

Hello, Everyone,

I know we have missed a few weeks together this summer due to my vacations, but I'm back with no vacations the rest of the year, so the show will go on...each Wednesday at 9am, and wow, do we have a great fall planned for you!

Towards the end of September, we are kicking off the "Twelve Weeks 'til Christmas" in my show, so that we will give you lots of great gift ideas, ideas for decorating for the upcoming holidays, and all the things necessary to prepare for the holidays, even cleaning, cooking, looking good, etc. It will be great! So don't miss a week!

We had a wonderful summer as a family, traveling home to Minnesota to see parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, etc. For once, it wasn't super hot and sticky while we were there, so we really enjoyed it even more! I made a trip to Green Bay, WI, to visit one of my sisters, and we took a little trip up to Door County in Wisconsin, which is definitely a tourist destination. I was able to visit one of the most amazing Swedish shops I've ever been in filled with things made in Sweden. What a treat that was for me!!

We also took the family up to the Pocono Mountains where we just relaxed and swam, rode on the lake on the pontoon and ate too much! It was peaceful and restful, which I needed before the fall began. The kids went back to school this week, and as much fun as it is to be more carefree in the summertime, it's also good to get back to a routine and some structure in the house. God bless all the teachers and staff who work with our children everyday and do such an outstanding job! After I homeschooled Elizabeth for two years, I have a much greater appreciation for every teacher out there and the hard work they do!!

As far as this week's show is concerned, we will be spending some Time in the Kitchen, then talking about Time to Organize, and the most important one, Time for Kids! Whether you are a parent or a grandparent, I hope you are watching that segment.

Thanks for tuning in to the show each Wednesday at 9am, and I will see you then!

Blessings to you, Mary Beth Roe

Hi, Everyone!

What an amazing week I had last week! Thank you to everyone who watched our big 2-hour birthday celebration of My Time with Mary Beth last week! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I wish I could have handed all of you a piece of cake through the tv, but that would get messy!

It was incredibly touching for me to have a 'live' audience there to celebrate with me as well as having well-wishes from other hosts and guests of QVC as well as having the call-ins from Marie Osmond and Nolan Miller, both of which live in west coast time zones. They had to be up very early to make a call to me in the morning hours of the east coast time zone! Of course, it was fun to have Mark and the kids in the audience watching, which has only happened one other time in the 22 years I've been here, and I brought 6 of my closest friends to the show, too, which was very special to me.

Thank you to all who have sent emails and cards with birthday wishes! It's been so fun to read each of them, and it means so much to me that you take the time to do that. I am very blessed! It's made turning '50' so much fun and unforgettable.

So now it's a new week with another show coming up this Wed., Aug. 19th. We will talk about Spa Time ( I love that...do you think we can all get massages?), but then it's back to reality with Time to Clean, and then something fun like Time for Memories. We're going to dance, scrub and relax...that gives you a few hints.

As we go into Sept., if you have any suggestions for things you would like to see on the show on Wednesday mornings, let me know, so we can try to meet your requests. You can just respond to this blog with a message, because we read everything you write back from this blog.

Have a terrific week, and I'll see you bright and early at 9am for My Time with Mary Beth this Wednesday!

Blessings to you,

Mary Beth

Hi, Everyone,

Well, I'm "50" now! I had my birthday yesterday, the 10th, and it was a really fun day with the family! Eric had the day off from work, so all 6 of us spent the whole day together, talking, laughing alot, playing cards, swimming and going out to eat for dinner. I showed the kids some pictures of when I was little, like 6 months old - three years old, and they got a kick out of that.

Prior to yesterday, I had taken a few days to go spend it with one of my sisters in Green Bay, WI. What a fun time we had! I slept alot and ate alot, and we had fun going to all the cute shops in Door County, that thumb of WI that sticks up by Lake Michigan. I went to a Swedish shop where I could have spent huge amounts of money! Because I'm Swedish/Norwegian, I went crazy over the sweaters, linens, decor, dishes, etc. I spent just a little and vowed to go back there someday! Of course, since I was in WI, I had to eat some cheese curds!

Because this is my birthday week, we have a very special My Time with Mary Beth show this Wednesday, Aug. 12th. It will be a two-hour show starting at 9am, and we will have a 'live' audience and birthday cake, of course! My family and some of my friends will be in the audience, so you'll get a chance to see them, too. The line up of products is truly my favorites, so I know you will enjoy it! Pour yourself a cup of coffee/tea, and join us!

Blessings to all,

Mary Beth

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a great summer and getting some relaxing time in! I have had the wonderful priviledge to spend some extra time with my family, both with my own kids here in PA but also in MN with my parents and siblings as well as Mark's family. Both of our parents range in age from 86 - 90, so every moment we get to spend with them is a true blessing but never long enough. Leaving them to come back home is one of the hardest things we have to do. I'm sure many of you can relate. However, it just reminds us that our family relationships are the most important things in life, and we can never take it for granted.

My Mom has been my very best friend my entire life! We've been joined at the hip for almost 50 years, so it's ironic that I'm the one child of the six that ended up living far away! Thank God for phones and airplanes!

But family all begins in the home, and that's what we are going to talk about this week in My Time with Mary Beth on Wednesday at 9am. We will cover Time to get Organized, Time in Your Home, and Time in the Kitchen. Some of my favorite guests will be joining me this week, so it should be a great time to get your favorite cup of coffee or tea and sit down and relax with us and do some shopping.

Next week, we will be talking about Time to Do It Yourself, Time to Accessorize and Time to clean on Aug. 5th. Mark your calendars, because my big birthday party is a 2-hour 'live' audience show on Aug. 12th, and it will be jam packed! Hope to see you there! Have a great week!

Blessings to all,

Hi, Everyone,

My Time with Mary Beth is back on for this week! In fact, we'll be talking about Time to Organize, Time in the Sun and Time in the Kitchen.

I know you all probably have sunglasses, but one thing I've discovered this summer that I never had seen before this season was the kind of sunglasses that you can wear over your regular prescription glasses as well as without the glasses and just over your contacts. And now they are stylish, too! Obviously, I've seen the flip up sunglasses you can attach to regular glasses, but they look dorky, and to get your prescription glasses tinted is very costly.

I wear contacts, but on my days off, I like to give my eyes a rest when I can, and I wear my prescription glasses around. However, I've never had sunglasses I could wear when driving if I had my regular glasses on. Now I do for the first time! Wow, I love them, and we will be talking about them in the show this week. You have to see them...they look great and they are not real expensive.

I also will have some of my favorite kinds of towels for the kitchen in the show. If you don't have microfiber towels in the kitchen yet, you really should try these. They are terrific whether you are wiping your hands or drying clean dishes. The washcloths are great as well!

By the way, next Wednesday, July 22nd, QVC is going to have a 3 hour QVC This Morning show with Pat and Dan which will take the place of the My Time with Mary Beth show. However, the show will be back on July 29th. Don't forget we will have a big 2-hour My Time with Mary Beth birthday celebration on Wed., Aug 12th with a 'live' audience that you really shouldn't miss. I don't know what all is being planned, but I have a feeling everyone may be wearing black, since I will have turned 50!! Have a terrific two weeks!

Blessings to you,

Hi, Everyone!

Sorry I missed you last week. Mark and I took a few days with the kids and went to a lake for some rest and relaxation. But the My Time with Mary Beth show is back this week on Wednesday, July 8th, at 9am.

I know I'm supposed to write about my show, and I will, but first, I have to say I just finished watching Michael Jackson's Memorial for the past 3 hours as did many of you and millions of other people around the world. I was so grateful that I had today off, so I could watch. I am a big Michael Jackson fan, and I have been since I was about 9 years old. I had Michael's posters all around my bedroom by the time I was 10. I own several of his albums, and I've always been mezmorized by his talents. I've loved so many of his songs over the years, and I have to agree that I think he was one of the greatest entertainers of our time. It's so sad to me that he is gone so soon, and being about the same age as he was, I feel that there is so much more ahead for me, which I know there would have been for him, too. His death was so preventable, and that's one of the saddest parts about it. As I'm sure many of you did, I sat there in tears, especially at the end when his brothers spoke as well as his daughter. There's nothing more important than family and more precious, too. Keep those you love close to you!

I will see you all Wednesday morning, and we'll have a good time as always! We'll be talking about Time to Clean, Time to Go, and Time to Take Care of Yourself. God bless each of you!

Blessings to you,

Mary Beth Roe
