There is a lot of preparation that goes into a Today’s Special Value. It starts out by creating the perfect item for our customers. We try and compile all of our customer’s requests into one silhouette. Once we have a silhouette that we think everyone will love, we present it to our buyers. Once we have analyzed what would be the best color options for the item, we give the order to our factories, and then wait about 5 months for the order to be manufactured. During this time, we prepare for the TSV day in many different ways. Our first order of business is to help with the model shoots for The Insider, email campaign, and QVC’s website. The models are always so great working with us. This time, Anne was our model. She looked fabulous in the bra, and everyone was really happy with the pictures. Next, we have to approve the wording for the email campaign. We were away for the holidays when my mom’s blackberry buzzed that we got the mock up email campaign to approve. That’s when we know it’s almost here! There was a cold front that day, so when Bonni, our website director, sent us the email, she added that she really hoped we weren’t in the barn that day. When it’s cold out, it’s even COLDER in the barn so we wear snowsuits. Then we make sure to start stocking up on our beauty sleep. The TSV day is a marathon of energy. After the day is over and we’re walking out to our cars, we are already planning our next TSV! So you can see, we are off and running into the New Year full steam ahead. The holidays are right around the corner! Christmas is our favorite time of year; carols begin playing right after Halloween in our houses. My mom has almost finished her Christmas shopping already, so all of us are way behind in her book. Fall is all about sweaters, jackets, and layering. It is my favorite time of year for clothing. I love wearing sweaters with a great pair of jeans and boots. This is where our days are spent… “The Barn” and “The Chicken Coup”. The Barn is where we do our everyday responsibilities and designing, and The Chicken Coup is where meetings are held. We moved our offices into a renovated barn on my mom and dad’s property almost a year ago. Each of our offices are horse stalls, for real! Even though there are no longer horses residing there, we have had our fair share of wild-life since we took it over. Mice, bugs, geese… you name it, we’ve seen it. I’ll never forget the day when we saw the first mouse. My nephew, Pierre, loves hiding my highlighter. So one day, he was sitting on my lap, and what was usually normal routine of him showing me where he hid my highlighter, he said, “Lala, look!” So I looked, and there was a mouse at my foot. I shrieked, grabbed Pierre, and jumped up on my chair. That poor little mouse was more scared than we were! Everyday is an adventure here.
