Roberta's Tip: Grooming

Damaged plants should be removed during normal growing season. This promotes a longer blooming season for the garden, creating a more attractive disease-free appearance and character. Grooming can be as little as pulling away wilted flowers or pruning stems where blooming is finished. This encourages new flushes of growth for a longer blooming season.

I live in a condo with a nice balcony. Absolutely no sun!!!!!! What can I plant other than hostra! The other problem is that I live in the city of Chicago

Gail
It's driving me nuts not to clean up my beds yet but we've still got snow on the ground. Can't wait!
Gail, I hope you check back. There are numbers of plants that do well in limited light. Do a search on HGTV.com or read some of davesgarden.com for good ideas. Search "woodland plants" and you'll get lots of good ideas, like ferns and epimediums besides hostas of course! I planted impatiens in my flower bed that gets no sun and they did beautifully. Really lit up that corner!
